Chris Matthews bushwacks Ann Coulter by setting up a call from Elizabeth Edwards during his full hour with Coulter on Hardball last night.
Mrs. Edwards gets owned by Ann Coulter when it is brought up the sleezy tactics that Edwards (A Democrat candidate for President of the United States of America) has used in his profession as an Attorney that exploits doctors and children for his own enrichment.
Mrs Edwards says John doesn't know she is making this call.
Yea, right...
Chris joked about “beheading” Coulter before the show, but what Coulter said is mean???????

So, you think that when Ann is ambushed by two political hacks, on a political hack network, that she should sit there and act all goodie two shoes? The clip you saw is just that, a clip...she debated about lots of other things, like the constitution and the office of Vice President, about the unfairness of the Libby prosecution, and other stuff I missed. She wasn't the one that started the attacks. Chris brought up the chubby legs and Monica. The network set up the ambush. Chris brought up the beheading of Ann. I am glad she defended herself.
The ‘tone of the debate’ only seems to be ‘lowered’ when a Conservative skewers a Liberal.

And her supporters! Yesterday he called the people standing behind her “from Deliverance.” Matthews has a serious prejudice against southerners, which slips out regularly on his shows.
He also cursed several times “jesus” and at the end of the show when Ann said something about his help in selling a lot of her books, he said “I will have to get to confession as fast as I can.”
The man is disgusting on so many levels. I wonder what his Viewership was for yesterday’s shows? About triple his usual numbers would be my guess.

In the first place, it’s obvious Chris instigated the call, a real set-up. How else would Mrs. Edwards have been able to call in to a live TV show and get on the air?
I was disaappointed Ann ignored Chris’ nasty insult of the people there who were obviously Ann supporters. He said they were a “Deliverance” crowd. But maybe it was smart to ignore his nasty insults. A young woman in the crowd did just that when Chris said she a John Bircher. She ignored the jibe and said, “I’m from the Claire Booth Luce Policy Institute.
Chris is always a motor mouth, but Ann didn’t let him get the last word anytime he tried to trap her, or make her look meanspirited. And I bet this morning, Elizabeth Edwards is wishing she hadn’t taken the call from Hardball.

I must disagree with you. We do not need to raise the tone of the debate. The Liberals will never debate the facts of an issue; they must avoid the facts at all costs because it destroys their point of view. You can only fight at he elevated level if your opponent agrees to the rules.
Liberals will always go on the personal attack level because they have no other playbook. Also, when they attack at the personal level and you work the facts, the lower level (personal) attacks will be printed in the media and the Conservative response will appear weak and ineffective. People have been tuned to ignore logical thinking and they are attracted by the sensationalism.
When Ann Coulter attacks, it makes news for a whole set of complicated reasons that all work against the liberal mindset. Here is a very intelligent and attractive woman with a Conservative philosophy speaking the TRUTH and being called mean. How can the truth be mean?? I just don’t understand. But when Ann sticks it to them the public smirks and thinks that “she got them”. There is liberal commentator outrage, no public outrage.
I would have loved Ann to ask the reason that her husband brought up Mary Cheney in the debate. But then you always think of the thing you should have said after the fact.
