It is not helpful to demean the president. I do not agree with him on immigration, but I’ll not smear him. I voted for him, fought for him, and think he’s been right on many things.
The truth is that this “megamoron” is just about ready to beat us anti-amnestyites at the legislative game.
Wonder who’s really the dummy....me or him???
I disagree with Pres. Bush on immigration reform, but overall I think he is good, intelligent man. It bothers me that this site has devolved largely into a hate-Bush site. I always thought that almost all who posted on FR had the ability to disagree without resort to ad hominem arguments, but lately I have been proven wrong. I think Ann Coulter may have it right, that the immigration reform bill represents sucking up to corporate interests who want cheap labor. Nothing else really explains it. I think that is wrong and poor policy, but I don’t think Bush is stupid or a traitor or a hater of this country. He is just wrong.
I hope that the moderators will consider keeping tighter reins on the hate posts here, whether they are anti-Bush or anti-liberal. We have enough ammo to argue on the merits, and when we do, we reduce the OTHER side to having to resort to ad hominem attacks.
Well that’s all well and good Mr. President, but what about the vast majority of illegals who are convicted of rape, burglary, drug dealing, and murder.
Do you “love” those guys too?
What about white legal, tax paying, Americans who want to take advantage of what America has to offer? You seem to overlook the fact that there are a finite number of chairs in any classroom. And a finite number of government dollars to pay for them.
Nobody is against ‘immigration’ per se, but everyone is against rewarding criminals.
This is a point you seem to be unable to grasp.
GW has become a full fledged Liberal. Love, helping the cute little brown skin people, anecdotal ‘for the children’ stories, this is all the bread and butter of Liberalism.
Is this DU or KOS? Oh - wait a minute it’s Free Republic. This has past the point of insanity.
Can anyone explain Bush’s actions? Why he would imply his conservative base are bigots and racists?
Explain why this immigration bill is suddenly more important than the WOT?
Look around you, George Bush is not appreciated on this board because he has told us, his supporters, to screw ourselves more times then we care to count.

got a link for one of those quotes?
FR has become more closely aligned with Hugo “Bush is the Devil” Chavez than with America. If you want Bush to adjust his thinking, calling him names like a 6 year old having a temper tantrum is certainly not the way to do it. You’ll catch more flies with honey.
i can’t. but to see FR descend to the same level of rhetoric used at DU and DAILY KOS makes me want to vomit.
bttt
Wow. Dude was on a roll.
This essay is a pile. The author should find some other way to spend Saturday night than getting zonked and sitting down at his word processor.
It is fascinating to see how the bots ignore the fact that the president was the first to start the name calling.
How about proposed Social Security reform, tax breaks (for the rich, right?), no terrorist attacks on our soil since 9/11 (and you KNOW there have been attempts that we may never hear about). No child left behind— good intentions, but bad policy. Immigration reform, if we built the fence/wall first, perhaps it may work, perhaps not. I think it makes us look stupid to call Bush stupid. He is wrong on some things, but he is a good and moral man, I believe.
“Why he would imply his conservative base are bigots and racists?”
Because some (not all) of them are.
Mr. Robinson can speak for himself, but it’s my understanding that Free Republic was birthed not to cheerlead for Republicans, but to present the conservative viewpoint and to root out corruption in government.
With Bush’s immigration plan, we are seeing corruption writ large, as he is using his position to destroy the U. S. for some hidden personal gain.
So, FR is still rooting out corruption, even if the corruption belongs to a Republican President.
Exactly, and most of us used to fully support our Pres. But I think that the turnaround shows that we have principles and we have loyalty to our country's and our families' future first, not to a man or a party.
I am aware of that. But things would be even worse under John Kerry in the big job.
We who defended GW, are hurt and confused. Maybe we are lashing out, but dammit we took the hits and watched his back.
His behavior is incomprehensible.
I won’t support him on Amnesty but he has been a good President. I find the attacks on him because he disagrees with the majority of republicans on this this forum a bit repugnant and bordering on the lunacy.
