A Day in the Life of President Bush (many photos): 6-27-07
WhiteHouse.gov & other sources ^ | 6-27-07

Today President Bush spoke at the rededication of the Islamic Center of Washington. (Transcript)

Returning to the White House, the president met with experts to discuss how individual citizens can (and should) have the power to make their own health care decisions, not the government. He spoke about this later in the Roosevelt Room. (Transcript)

First Lady Laura Bush continued her tour of Africa, arriving in Maputo, Mozambique. There, Mrs. Bush met with President Armando Guebuza and toured US funded facilities that are fighting malaria and AIDS while helping the victims of those diseases.

Back home, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke at the US-India Business Council in Washington.

And on a much lighter (and happier) note, President Bush attended the Seventh-Annual Tee Ball Game this afternoon on the South Lawn of the White House. (Transcript)

Now there’s a marital vow I’m not sorry was broken! Remember that W promised Laura she wouldn’t have to give speeches? She’s an absolutely wonderful emissary for the US.

Under the watchful eye of Meredith Cripe, a member of the Chantilly, Virginia Little League Challenger League, President George W. Bush places a ball on the tee to start the game and the 2007 White House Tee Ball Season on the South Lawn. The game pitted the Bobcats from Cumberland, Maryland, against the Red Wings of Luray, Virginia.

President Bush: ... we're about to get the first pitch in. And Meredith Cripe is going to give me the ball in a minute. Meredith, we're really glad you're here. Thanks for coming. It's a big day to be here to put out the first pitch on opening day, and we're glad we selected you.

...And now before we begin the game, and before you give me the ball, Meredith, we're going to have the Little League Pledge. Are you ready? (The pledge is recited.)

Play ball. (Applause.)
