PHOENIX June 28, 2007 We begin in Phoenix and today we send our emails across the United States requesting other organizations join with Hispanic News in beginning a national boycott of anti-immigrant conservative talk radio sponsors.
We are Phoenix based and begin with identifying the number one anti Hispanic radio station in the Phoenix area: 550 KFYI. The radio station daily carries national radio talk hosts and also has a local section which features J.D. Hayworth, a former Scottsdale congressman known for his anti Hispanic migrant rhetoric who lost his reelection bid.
We begin with Bashas, an Arizona grocer who owns Food City which is where Arizona Hispanics buy their food and other store merchandize. Hispanics make up upwards of 98% of consumers at Food City stores located throughout Arizona.
Hispanics are known for spending a greater percent of their disposable income on food as compared to non Hispanics and it this revenue Food City partially uses to buy radio space at KFYI for Bashas.
This is a slap in the face at the Hispanic community. Therefore all advertising on anti-immigrant conservative talk radio must immediately come to an end. We begin by singling out Bashas to issue an apology to the Hispanic community for supporting anti Hispanic sentiments. We further require Bashas publicly issue a statement Bashas will no longer purchase radio talk advertisements at KFYI or any other similar radio station. If these conditions are not met, a boycott will ensue of all Food City stores and other Hispanic grocery stores will be recommended as part of moral purchasing for Hispanic consumers
Good. Then we'll know where to station the INS agents.
If they dont speak english they probably dont listen to talk radio anyway
I wonder how boycotting those that hire illegals would work out?
LOL...I have never passed a construction site in Texas and heard Rush Limbaugh on the radio. All I hear is Mexican music. Any sponsor with a clue will laugh at this feeble attempt to resuscitate the illegal alien agenda.
On some of you, it shows!
Anyone else think that the general American public woke up on the immigration issue when many Hispanics (primarily illegal Mexicans) marched with an in your face attitude during marches the past year?
The strategy of these folks seem to be brute force (numbers) will prevail.
That left a bad taste in a lot of mouths of those not paying as much attention as conservatives.
Therefore all advertising on anti-immigrant conservative talk radio must immediately come to an end.
All whom hire illegals ...boycott them!
La Raza (The Race) seems to be a little upset.
I despise these Hispano-Racist, Aztlan-Loving groups who try to confuse legal immigrants with illegal aliens.
Any boycott by these hate groups should be easily countered with support from American citizens
This is OUR country, and don’t you forget it!
I doubt it.
It would be impossible for me to boycott talk radio sponsors, as I would first have to start patronizing them.
For the most part talk radio sponsors [I listen to KSFO] seem for the most part to be get-rich-quick charlatans, phony car donation programs, dubious mortgage brokers, and quack medicine peddlers. As much as I love talk radio, I wouldn’t touch most of the the sponsors with a ten foot pole.
Basha’s grocery stores:
snip
Today, Bashas’ is a thriving, growing grocery chain consisting of 153 stores and employing 10,500 people. We almost take our success for granted, as though this is how it’s always been. In 1932, though, the success this company now enjoys was far from a sure thing. In fact, opening that first store constituted quite a gamble-a gamble whose stakes were a family’s financial ruin or salvation.
That decisive moment-the opening of the first Bashas’ store-was the climax of a story that began years earlier. Many years earlier. What follows is a little bit of our company’s “pre-history.”
* * *
Tanuis and Najeeb Basha
Although we date our founding to 1932, when the name “Bashas’” first appeared on a building, the history of the Basha family’s fortunes in America actually began in the previous century-1884, to be exact. It is the 48-year span from 1884 to 1932 that lays the foundation for that first Bashas’ store.
For the Basha family, it was an era marked by risk and reward, disaster and triumph, hardship and resourcefulness. It was an era that shows just how much effort it takes to realize the American Dream.
Mainly, it is an era marked by two main characters: Najeeb and Najeeby Basha, a couple whose eight children included Ike and Eddie Basha, Sr., the men who one day would open that first store.

Lord I hate boycotts.
Note that this tool didn't call for a boycott until after the McKennedy Surrender Bill was defeated today.
Boycott LaRaza sponsors. Tit for tat.
That’s rich, that’s like telling me to boycott Rolls Royce.
Unless the sponsors are KFC and Taco Bell, they’ll never notice.
Ya, thats going to endear me their cause.
You don't say.
They can't stop lying.
It's anti-illegal alien ....
Basha’s goes out of its way to hire mexicans.....

As any picture of a Hispanic protest will clearly attest.
Bashas' has three types of stores. The highbrow AJ's. The original and middle class Bashas'. Then the lower class Food City. I don't mind Food City too much, but I don't shop their often. But, my Hispanic neighbors do.
I live here in Phoenix and KFYI am550 is perfect. I’m listenin to it now.........Bruce Jacobs on at 5 to 8 am is a Brooklyn transplant who is a concrete conservative and is funny as hell.........you real conservatives would love him
Bashas and that nasty Food City......( nasty meat)
Ole man Basha ran for guvner a few votes back and way before the curve said he was in support of same sex marriage..........he became dead pol walking........

OH MY!
How will I know where to shop or eat? How will I know who to call to fix my sink or washer? I need talk radio to tell me what to think, where to shop, what to do. I’m lost without talk radio.
Sarcasm off.
This country is being Balkinized at an alarming rate. Make sure you own firearms when all hell breaks loose.
Since this store is a little pricey, how do these oh so poor hispanics (what country is hispain anyway) shop there?
I’ll bet they support McCain, too
Total for this search: $19,100
Search Criteria:
Donor name: basha
Recipient: McCain
Donor State: AZ
Where would they shop then - Walmart?

Bruce started off in an afternoon time-slot, but then moved to mornings. 5am to 8am. He's great entertainment and responds to most of his emails. Plus, he's got a great feud going with the "local rag", the Arizona Republic. He also refers to Gov. Napalitano as "Crappy Nappy". Go Bruce!
If the hispanics desert Food City they will be cutting off their own noses to to spite their faces.
They will end up paying more elsewhere while Basha is too diversified to be much affected by a boycott, he owns the mainstream Basha’s Stores and the up scale AJ’s which are patronised by the more affluent.
Oh, no! The 12 Hispanic leftists who listen to talk radio might boycott it? The horror! 8*)
Great link to his website. I notice he’s in the housing construction business.
Hmmm.
Obviously eating foods Americans don't want to eat...
Who knew illegal aliens were such Islamophobes?
I thought they were known for sending a large percent of their "disposable income" back home to Mexico via wire transfers.
I put him in a new 07 Tahoe for a couple months
when I was Ops Mgr of a Chevy Dealer.........
great guy..I need to call him to play golf, come to think of it
I'm just skeptical that any retail business anywhere in the country has 98% of their customers matching a single demographic.
