LOVE IT — LOVE IT ALL! WHAT A GREAT DAY FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, BUT OUR WORK IS NOT DONE, WE MUST STAY VIGILANT BECAUSE LIKE KENNEDY SAID, THIS ISSUE IS NOT GOING TO GO AWAY. NEXT WE NEED TO WORK ON The Secure Borders FIRST Act of 2007, sponsored by Congressmen Peter King and Lamar Smith to fix the problems we already have! Keep on it folks! We can do this!!!

Simple. If you are finding pleasure in someone else’s pain, you are experiencing schadenfraude.

As Martha might say, It’s a good thing!

Schadenfreude

Schaden is misfortune or sadness.

Freude is joy.

Or, literally, Sadness joy.

Green Bay bans hiring of illegal immigrants

Associated Press

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Any business hiring illegal immigrants could have its licenses, contracts and other grants from the city taken away under an ordinance passed Tuesday night.

The ordinance was approved, 9-2, by the City Council and is due to take effect this weekend after the official notice is published.

Opponents contended the proposal would be unenforceable, inhumane and mean-spirited and would only add to the area’s labor shortage.

But advocates for the ordinance said it was needed because ignoring illegal immigration trivializes the hardships endured by legal immigrants. They argued that businesses hiring illegal workers should be punished.

Alderman Tom Weber, who supported the ordinance since it was first proposed, said he first assumed it would be symbolic but now he feels it could be enforced.

“I don’t think there’s a game plan out there to go out and start knocking on doors and going into back rooms and things of that nature. I think when the obvious situation comes to bear, we’re going to know it,” he said. “Then we’ll address it, but there’s no witch hunt going on here.”

Alderman Jerry Wiezbiskie, who opposed the ordinance, said proving a violation would require getting “a federal determination of an alien’s unlawful status.”

“Regreso” should be “Regresa” or “Regresan.” As worded, it says, “I return to Mexico.” If this is your image then you might want to consider photoshopping it. “Regresa” means, “Return to Mexico” in the “You” form.

Hmmmm... I am not so quick as to write this off. Doesn't this no cloture vote just allow debate. It doesn't actually kill the bill. I believe debate will continue and they may yet try to pass it.

Also, I don't see the misfortune in it for Kennedy and these traitors. Yes, they've been dealt a blow but the fight will go on.

The only victory is that SOME Senators listened to their constituents. The arrogance continues from the rest and from the White House.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement Port of Entry along the US-Mexico border, 27 June 2007 in Columbus, New Mexico."

Then the "Immigration and Customs Enforcement Port of Entry" better photoshop the photo and correct the sign because it is grammatically "el wrongo," ( to steal a phrase from Archie Bunker. ) :-)

The guy who painted the sign must have been an immigrant from yet some other country. ROFL

There is a lot of great talent on FR, and I will borrow, er, steal the good stuff and combine them into a little story line.

If more cities like Green Bay make hiring of illegals an illegal act, this may end up like a big replay of the Boston Tea Party.

You are correct, this bill will be brought to the Floor again, but no matter when, cloture will once again be required in order for the actual vote-to-pass.

And even should the Senate pass it, that still does not guarantee success in the House, nor does it negate the requirement of Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution.

If corporations hire them, go up the ladder to the highest official in on the criminal act. Those lower on the pay scale can cop a plea and avoid jail time if they resign and pick up trash in illegal alien areas for a year or so.

“Regreso” should be “Regresa” or “Regresan.” As worded, it says, “I return to Mexico.” If this is your image then you might want to consider photoshopping it. “Regresa” means, “Return to Mexico” in the “You” form.

Actually, it does not mean "I return" in this case. In this case "regreso" is a noun not a verb. It means something along the lines of "the return path" sort of akin to the word "exit". Think of the English word "help". Is it a noun or a verb? It all depends on the context (like "regreso" being written on a billboard). "The help won't arrive until later." "The doctor won't help me with my itching penis." (that's just a joke, folks; just trying to enliven the grammar lesson :-0 The command form of the verb as "regrese" or "regresen" is rather strong. On a billboard (context) it's more like shouting "get the f&ck out!" rather than just "go home."

What We have at this moment is still the Status Quo.

Keep calling and faxing to demand border security and current laws enforced. Otherwise, I fear there will be a *no-enforcement* backlash.

The President and the other supporters of this bill will be angry and willing to take it out on us.

Yes, that is what I was trying to convey! The sign should read "REGRESE A MÉXICO!" in big caps or as you say, "GET THE F&CK OUT!"

The only problem with saying it in American English is that the American slang would be lost on the invaders.

ROFL
