Dean: President Bush and Republicans Failed the American People With Their Lack of Leadership on Immigration Reform
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement after Republicans blocked comprehensive immigration legislation in the Senate:
"Today's immigration vote is a reminder of why the American people voted Republicans out in 2006 and why they'll vote against them in 2008. After using the immigration issue to inflame people with divisive rhetoric, the Republican Party, led by President Bush, had neither the capital nor the political will to work with Democrats on a reasonable compromise that would have delivered on the promise of immigration reform. The Republican election year strategy to scapegoat immigrants to win elections not only backfired in 2006 but today reveals a fractured party in disarray.
Senator Reid and the Democratic leadership in Congress deserve a lot of credit for listening to the American people, for listening to the experts, and after participating in countless hearings, fighting to work in a bipartisan manner to deliver a comprehensive immigration reform package that would be tough and restore order to the border, but would also be smart and practical. Today's vote doesnt end the immigration debate. Its an issue that wont go away. It was, however, a failure to address whats needed at our borders, and it fails to address 12 million immigrants, most of whom are hard working and law abiding, and who will not go away by virtue of Republican obstructionism. Democrats will continue to look for ways to address the issue. The American people deserve better, and America is capable of better."
When did they let him out of his box?
I don’t normally laugh at morons but, Dean’s pretty funny.
You’d think they could invent straps that Howard couldn’t chew through.
What a nipplehead.
The headline is correct though.....
Bush and republicans failed to fix the problems over illegal immigration when they had a chance to back in 2001-2006. They could have been enforcing the laws, providing funds for border security and taking some initiative that would have made this a winner for the GOP. Instead they look like bumblers.
Ya think Dean is talking about how Bush has rallied the nation to support his immigration and Iraq positions.
the FACTS: RATs, control Congress.
Sit down and shut up.
“President Bush, had neither the capital nor the political will to work with Democrats on a reasonable compromise that would have delivered on the promise of immigration reform”
LOL. Dean is publicly blaming the Republicans and Bush for killing this abomination of a bill? The public *hated* this bill, and Dean is crediting Bush and the Republicans for killing it. Is he really that dumb?
The Republicans couldn’t ask for a more perfect endorsement.
“Dr.” Demento strikes again.
Today's vote would have continued debate and continued the process of amending a closed-door clapped together amnesty bill.
Debate was ended by the democrat majority leader who pulled the bill after ONE amendment was left open for debate and after ONE more failure to close off the process in order to get an immediate vote.
Howard Dean is the gift that keeps on giving.
He is the BACKSIDE OF THE HORSE ....an original...JK
I’m still waiting for the “Reagan Disaster” that the libs used to constantly insist was going to destroy our county. I ask them how that worked out and I get silence.
It's amazing to me that his handlers can still convince him that he has any significance at all.....

A representation of Democrat leadership .
Howard Dean is a fool.
Bovine excrement. Dingy Harry and the Rats deserve credit for nothing except for the shamnesty bill, itself a bastard child of one of their top goons, Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy. American people? Mexicans live in "North" America too, after all.
The Republican election year strategy to scapegoat immigrants to win elections not only backfired in 2006 but today reveals a fractured party in disarray.
Talk about a Democrat election year strategy to scapegoat Republicans while instituting Marxist globalism.
...but today reveals a fractured party in disarray.
Speak for your own party, Dean. Consider the fact that MoveOn.org (ultra left-wing) is attacking Dingell (left-wing).
Democrats will continue to look for ways to address the issue.
Bring the bill back from the dead, and we will crucify you and your comrades too, Dean.
Actually, on second thought, to hell with the Rats too! Burn them at the stake!
i guess he is upset that the rats were not cohesive in there votes, 15 voted on cloture
The gift that keeps on giving.
I am proud of the Republicans that stood in the way of the WH on this bill and took all kinds of threats. They are my heroes for standing up for all the citizens of this Country and thumbing their noses at the tactics of the WH and the Dem leadership who only gave the NO side 10 minutes but Senators Session, Vitter, Dole, and DeMint took full advantage of those 10 minutes and beat the cheaters who gave themselves four times plus the amount of time!

Alert! Howard Dean is a Rove-bot!
dean...he still around? Screamin’ Dean? Can’t worry about President Bush right now...I’m basking in the glory and pride of the victory today of the American people.
Dean, Reid, and Pelosi are desperately spinning..... of course the MSM will not demand that they explain why 15 ‘RAT senators voted ‘nay’..........
look like bumblers?????????????????????????
Want to know how to lose the next election big time, then have Hairey Read and Nancy Peloser push through more of that legislation not supported by 80% of America.
While your at it pass the fairness doctrine and see a take over of the House and Senate by independents like that of the Republican takeover of 1994.
Good bye you worthless immoral piece of DNC fecal matter.
Bull-puckey... Nothing but DemoRAT spin. Seems to me that the roll call tells the real story. And, if anyone defeated this abomination (the bill, not Dean...perhaps) it was the American public, with their tremendous voice...
That it Dean, make the amnesty tarbaby your own...(this smuck is the Republican’s best hope)
Ha ha! Funny!
But why go to all this trouble on “immigration”?
Much simpler to simply have Mexico annext the USA as the whateverth state or such.
12 million illegals is a number as valid as govt cost estimates, the govt cpi numbers, etc. Double it to get something much more accurate.
Who?
When 80% of the people are opposed to amnesty, you know a lot of Dem voters are against it too. The labor unions for one thing.
Hey Chuckles, take your Kennedy/Bush/Reid amnesty and stuff it.
Off his meds again. Does anyone listen to or care what this moron has to say.
If we were in an alternate Universe those Democrats would be touted as... as... mavericks and would be interviewed 24/7 for 3 days by CNNMSNBCCNBCABCCBSNBC and portrayed as independent thinking, straight talking voice of the Democrat party and true nonpartisans upholding the interests of the American citizen they represent.
But alas all I hear in this universe from the MSM is how I'm a talk radio listening Neanderthal zombie racist bigot.
