“We ought to let right-wing talk radio go on as they do now,” he said. “Rush and Sean are just about as important in the scheme of things as Paris Hilton...

I guarantee Americans know who Rush, Sean, and Paris are. Who the heck is David Obey. (The really notable people only need their first name and you know who they are.)

“I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”

Sure. Tell it to the MSM, the alphabet networks, most of the cable "news" programs, and the alleged "institutes of higher learning." Then, when they have all complied with the requirement of letting "Americans hear both sides of the story," we'll talk about radio.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said on Tuesday that the government should revive the Fairness Doctrine, a policy crafted in 1929 that required broadcasters to balance political content with different points of view.

If this were the 1920's when each city had only ONE radio station, he might have a point but today, there are scores of radio stations in every market and people can chose to listen to whatever they want. The only reason he's upset is that liberal talk radio is so bad, liberals don't even want to listen to it!

Feinstein ought to keep her mouth shut when it comes to fairness. What’s fair about her moving contracts in the direction of her husband’s company, and his cronies, so they could make millions? What about the other companies who, because of her, never had a chance at that business?

“Flake added: “Rather than having the government regulate what people can say, we should let the market decide what people want to hear.”

Actually, no, we shouldn’t “let the market decide what people want to hear”. The people decide what they want to hear and it is up to the market to provide that in the most efficient manner.

Listening to Radio, TV, are activities that can be avoided easily. Listening to teachers teaching leftist propaganda, however, is not. So, if they want to have ‘fairness doctrines’ in place, they should start from the classrooms, not broadcasting studios.

““Rush and Sean are just about as important in the scheme of things as Paris Hilton, and I would hate to see them gain an ounce of credibility by being forced by a government agency or anybody else to moderate their views enough that they might become modestly influential or respected.”

I think it’s just possible that Rush Limbaugh saved America these past few weeks, by his passionate and articulate explanation of just WHY the immigration bill sucked. In any event, he’s certainly done more for our country than ANY of those feeble-minded jerks on Capitol hill.

Defeat of anmesty today says otherwise. IMO, Dems just don't want to hand conservatives a big issue in 2008 when they assume bush would VETO it. At least the House Dems don't. The 6 year termed Senators on both aisles are another animal altogether. Trent and Mccain would love to silence us much as Hillary and kennedy.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said on Tuesday that the government should revive the Fairness Doctrine

Of course Dick believes the government should regulate free speech, a very Nazi-like attitude. Oops... :)

IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, pick A SOCIALISTIC COUNTRY! lord knows there are plenty to choose from. You won’t last a minute, because they won’t stand for your non sense! Learn to appreciate what you have here instead of trying to change it for the worst.

“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” he said (Durbin). “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”

Yep, and the decision would probably ensure that the Demonrats would never again control either the White House or congress. I really don't think this fool thinks these things all the way through.
