A San Bernardino County jury today acquitted a former sheriff's deputy of attempted voluntary manslaughter for opening fire on an unarmed, off-duty Air Force police officer after a high-speed chase last year, a brutal shooting videotaped by a bystander and aired nationwide.
Ivory John Webb Jr., 46, the son of a former Compton police chief, was the first law enforcement officer ever to face criminal charges for an on-duty shooting in San Bernardino County. Webb, who also was also acquitted of assault with a deadly firearm, faced up to an 18-year prison sentence.

I’d love to know how the jury rationalized this.
Could be the jurors fear the police. It is getting like Mexico out there.

So would I. From all the news articles I read on this case, and the video tape, there was no evidence at all to lead you to believe there was any reasonable doubt he was innocent. Besides attempted murder, it was also the Left’s classic textbook example, step by step, of their hate crime.
There you have it folks. It’s open season now. On whom and by whom is a matter of personal conscience.
But it won’t be Rodney King time this go-round cause the occifer was of color.

They should have moved the trial. The jurors have a real chance of running into his “brothers in blue”. They might have let that cloud their judgement.
Now the unions will be trying to get his job back. What a pile!
Time for some in the Airmans unit to teach this cop what a tactical raid is all about!
And the cops on FR wonder why we, the regular citizens, no longer trust the police force. This was a travesty of justice.
Ok, what about a federal civil Righrs trial? Good enough for those four cops,; good enough for this one.

Now now, they’re telling us now the pix showed Carrion (interesting name, as he was turned into that) reaching into his jacket. That could indicate a threat but it sure isn’t a “lunge.”
The police unions will now apply the maximum amount of grease and there’s a sizable chance Webb will slide clear out of all of this, civil as well as criminal, and will be back on the beat.
He should sue for wrongful dismissal.
I’m as pro-cop as they come and I’m sure the jury heard more than we did, but this sure looked to me like this cop went over the line.
It was a pretty quick deliberation....
