Skip to comments. The Selfishness Of The "Chamber Of Commerce" Crowd... (NO To Corporate Fascism Alert)

Those of us in the conservative movement have always been friendly to the business community. We believe in low taxes, a light touch on regulation, and we're stalwart champions of the free market.
When liberals start talking about limiting CEO pay, harassing Wal-Mart, beating up on oil companies, or generally trying to place new burdens on the businesses, it's always movement conservatives who rise to their defense, even though it's sometimes not in our best political interests.
Yes, we probably do fight a little harder because we view businessmen as political allies, but we genuinely, in our hearts and souls, believe in capitalism and an America where people can still get rich. So, philosophically, we're the best allies the business community in this country could ever have.
That's why it was so disappointing that none of that seemed to mean anything to the "Chamber of Commerce" crowd when it comes to the illegal immigration issue. Their attitude, right from the beginning to the bitter end of the bill in the Senate yesterday was, "We want to bring in as much cheap labor as humanly possible now, next year, and forever more to fatten our wallets and we want everyone else to pick up the tab for it. If it puts American workers out of a job, we don't care. If it drives their wages down, so much the better, because that means we make more money. If we have to leave the borders open and risk another 9/11, that's fine with us. If we have to get the bill through by demonizing as racists the very people who have staunchly defended us on issue after issue, it doesn't both us a bit. Long story short, if anyone doesn't like what we want to do, tough, because we bought these senators with our campaign contributions, we own them, and it's our way or the highway." In other words, for a lot of these companies that knowingly hire illegals, this is all about raw, unbridled greed.
Now, I don't begrudge a company making a big profit or get all upset because some corporate CEO gets paid more money in the time it takes him to walk from his office to the bathroom and back than I make in a year. That's just what Churchill referred to as capitalism's, "unequal sharing of blessings," and I don't have any problem with it.
But, what I do have a problem with are businesses that want to put an enormous burden on the rest of the country just to inflate their bottom lines. These businesses that are knowingly hiring massive numbers of illegals are criminal enterprises, not much different from crack dealers in my book, and not only do I want to see them getting fined, I want to see the people running those companies doing hard time in a federal penitentiary.
You know why?
Because these illegal aliens are not coming to this country to see the sights. They are coming here because crooked businesses are willing to ignore the law and give them jobs. Then these illegals that they're drawing here drive up the cost of health care and car insurance by refusing to carry insurance themselves. These illegals are having anchor babies and using those children to get welfare, food stamps, and other government goodies that the rest of us pay for. Enormous numbers of American citizens have been raped, robbed, and murdered by illegal aliens who came here in the first place to work for these crooked corporations. Our taxes also pay for keeping illegals in jail, we pay for their kids' schooling, and we have to pay a lot of money to keep these illegals out of the country and away from these businessmen who want to hire them. So, these crooks make a mint by paying slave wages to illegals and the rest of us have to pay the price for it.
Free enterprise? Free enterprise is great. But, free enterprise doesn't mean a lot of businessmen get rich by willfully breaking the law, pass the costs on to the rest of us, and then pay off senators with campaign contributions to legalize their victimization of the rest of the country

I agree, and the CoC will find a more distant “friend” the next time they need REAL help.
Wake up we’ve been living in Corporate Fascism for a long time, and not a true free market, since “The New Deal” this economy has been regulated to the point that “Big Business” (Which this Amnesty Debate recently showed is very short sighted, even when their own interests come around). They are protected by # 1)Regulations. #2)Corporate Welfare. #3) Tax Shelters and Weird systems that only a Lawyer could undertand #4) Inflation-Manipuation of people and money by the Government and Fed to truely make and keep a ‘slave’ classes (this increasingly included what would have used to be considered the “middle-class”. #5) Globalist goals (No real American sovereignty -including Amnesty for illigal aliens #)Beaurocrats and stupid legislators creating new rediculous laws that only put more of a burdon on the average joe and average jane!
I wiah we could get rid of it all (except the framework of the Constitution, Declaration), but that isn’t likely..
What he said! I have said that this bill was a way to take the wind out of the sails of the enforement movement. How can you crack down on illegals if they are all of the sudden legal. Business doesnt care if this bill wouldnt solve the problem as they go on hiring new illegals. Business just wanted to destroy the enforement movement with this bill. Now its gonna bite them in the ass.
The real enemies are those that refuse to enforce the law. A stiff penalty for hiring illegals (if it were enforced) would solve all of the problems associated with illegal immigration almost immediately.
The snippy reply that this is an unfair attack on businesses amazes me. No. Its a very fair attack on businesses doing something that is illegal. We cons are pro business. We are pro law enforcement. We are pro legal business practices. We are anti them doing things that are illegal. Why should this be confuse them?
The Chamber of Commerce crowd doesn’t want a free labor market, they want a cheap labor market. They are first class hypocrits. They get cheap labor, while the rest of pay for second rate schools, overcrowded ER’s, and full prisons.
Demand a border fence! Build it NOW!! Beef up the border patrol and close our borders!

Great Post....sums up things quite nicely!
The Chamber of Commerce crowd becomes yet another parasitic class of people who game the system by importing cheap labor and then foisting off on the rest of us the cost in welfare, schools, hospitals, and lost American jobs. They walk off with the money and the advantages and leave the rest of us to suffer.
This “immigration debate” has opened my eyes to the deviousness of the Chamber of Commerce and its ilk. From here on out, I will view its positions with a great deal of suspicion and cynicism.
I do think the federal government has the job of making it so employers can easily and reliably verify legal status of possible employees. The bottom line is there has to be an electronic picture ID that goes with a social security number. When a person provides a social security number to a employer the employer can run the number and get a picture to confirm the person is who they say they are.
I agree. It is disgusting. I want to see these employers doing the perp walk. Also, most of us can tell who is hiring illegals. We need to call and call complain. Force the government to take action. Business who hires illegals who commit crimes if we can prove it should be sued into bankruptcy.
bumpers !!! bumpers !!! bumpers !!!
What part of “rule of law” do the elites not understand?
What is going on is not capitalism...it is thuggery.
Is the elites idea of capitalism to create an underclass like slavery was 200 years ago? Is this there goal? If it is, then they are being quite hypocritical praising capitalism when in fact they are Fascist Marxists
Have you ever stopped to think that the words "corporate fascists" mean?
You seem to think of "corporate" (even without "fascists") as big businesses, as does the author. The truth is, most illegals in this country work for sole proprietors and small corporations. These businesses do not join the national Chamber of Commerce (and many not even the local ones).
