he US military said on Saturday that its forces had killed Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Masri, an Egyptian man believed to be a senior member of al-Qaeda in Iraq, on Friday.
Intelligence reports indicated that al-Masri worked directly for fellow Egyptian Abu Ayyub al-Masri, leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq. The US military said Abu Abd al-Rahman was killed between Baghdad and the Sunni city of Falluja, west of the capital. (Reuters)

Nice, very nice. Good work by our Soldiers!
It takes time, but over a period of years, these guys are going to learn that career progression in al Quaeda is not a good move.

Before folks get the names confused. This is NOT the al-Masri who is in charge of Al-Q after Zarqawi’s death. al-Masri simply means “from Egypt” (Egpyt = Masr) in Arabic.

And another item.... H/T to the Counter Terrorism Blog:
Iraq: US military says reports of beheaded bodies were false
******************************EXCERPT***************************
The Associated Press
Published: June 30, 2007
BAGHDAD: Reports of 20 beheaded bodies found south of Baghdad earlier this week were untrue and may have been fabricated by insurgents aiming to incite violence and revenge killings, the U.S. military said Saturday.
On Thursday, many Iraqi and international media outlets aired news of the bodies, quoting unnamed Iraqi police. The decapitated bodies had allegedly turned up on the banks of the Tigris River near Salman Pak, 24 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Baghdad.
Iraqi police officers frequently talk to media only on condition of anonymity, because of security concerns.

It’s hard to keep these names straight. But the good news is that rather than a “Who’s Who,” it’s a “Who Was” of the terrorists.

I’ve got this name thing figured out, Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Masri was a father who loved watching his son Abd play sports and would cheer for him while driving his maserati.

“Salman Pak”
Ah yes - Saddam’s Al Qaeda terrorist training camp in Iraq that the MSM, most Republicans and all Democrats refuse to acknowledge

I;m assuming this is an important guy,...just not the really main guy...but he would seem to be an long time terrorists...and must have been in the the hierarchy for quite some time...hence well protected...

I hope this good news doesn't get lost among the other breaking headlines on the news channels.
By the way....car bombers need
+ nails (they can get them from someone in the roofing business),
+ rental cars (they can get them from girlfriends who work in that business),
+ tanks of explosives (can be obtained from friends at convenience stores)
I'm worried about a girl I know who works at a car rental agency and is dating a ME man who works in a convenience store and as a roofer.
I think that the guys involved in the JFK plot worked as roofers and in convenience stores.
