It also saved the lives of approximately 11,000,000 Japanese. Plus over 1,000,000 Americans. And it allowed Japan to be a free country. The USSR may have decided to keep 1/2 after they entered the war if it had not ended when it did.
The winning of war means PEACE not negotiations which never have ended in peace.

More than just 11 million - it is far more likely that the Allies would have been forced to all but exterminate the Japanese people, due to the fanatical nature of the culture at the time. Every man, woman, and child able to carry a weapon over there would have attacked us, and the slaughter would have been unbelievable.
If you don’t think so, just read some of their pre-war literature. The highest goal of most Japanese was to die honorably, and preferably in battle.

(Overwhelmingly superior firepower and the willingness to use it is the only proven peace solution.)

It also saved the remainder of the country from being levelled with the ongoing incendiary bombing campaign which had severely damaged many cities already.
