Immigrants new right-wing fear factor [Illegals new GOP "scapegoat" not 'gays'] (Grab a barf bag)
The Palm Beach Post ^ | July 1, 2007 | Frank Cerabino

Posted on 06/30/2007 11:02:34 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I feel bad for Jennifer Lasko, the Delray Beach firefighter who made a significant sacrifice for her favorite presidential candidate.

Especially because it's an unnecessary sacrifice.

Lasko, 42, was one of four Americans selected from thousands of essay-writing supporters of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama to have dinner with the candidate on July 10. Lasko donated $25 to the Obama campaign and wrote about her transformation from a Republican to a Democrat.

And she has an interesting background, including service as an officer in the Army and a job helping people in distress right here in Palm Beach County.

At first, she was elated to be selected. But she ended up declining the invitation because she worried that her interesting background was a little too interesting.

She didn't only change political parties. Lasko had a sex change two years ago.

And she didn't want her transgendered status to become a political liability for Obama.

"I was foolish to think I could keep it under wraps," she told The Palm Beach Post's Jose Lambiet. "There are a lot of closed-minded people who'll make an issue of this."

Diabolical menial-labor agenda

A few months ago, I would have said Lasko's concern was politically savvy. But I've come to believe that she may be overly cautious during this election cycle and that she, and everybody else in the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual) community have less to dread in 2008 than in previous election years.

That's because there's a new scapegoat in town: Immigrants.

When it comes to whipping up irrational get-out-the-vote fear, it's the trans-bordered, not the transgendered who are in the crosshairs of the troglodyte wing of American politics.

Latin American immigrants are the new gays.

The nail-biting fear of gay marriage and the so-called "gay agenda" has given way to contrived hysteria over tubercular, leprous El Qaeda Central Americans streaming into America to pursue their diabolical menial-labor agenda.

These days, the morality police are joining the border patrol, trading in their Bibles for barbed wire in the hunt for a more galvanizing bogeyman.

Is this good for the GLBT crowd? Claro que si.

Wet foot, dry foot-in-mouth

How else can you explain that on Friday all but one of the Republican candidates for president declined invitations to speak in Florida, a key early primary state, to the largest gathering of Hispanic elected officials in the country?

And former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson, who is flirting with a bid for the presidency as the Reaganesque wise old man, got an appreciative response from an audience of South Carolina Republicans this week when he cited the menace of those pesky Cubans streaming into our country.

"In the year 2005, we apprehended over 1,000 folks who originally came from Cuba," he told the group. "I don't imagine they're coming here to bring greetings from Castro. We're living in the era of the suitcase bomb."

So even though the Cubans are fleeing a repressive dictatorship and welcomed into this country as legal immigrants, we ought to be frightened of them too.

Thompson later tried to clarify his words, saying he was only talking about being wary of the Castro spies among them. But it sure sounded like he was saying that the Cubans are coming here illegally and that we ought to wonder how many of them want to blow us up.

So you see, Lasko was being way too overcautious. She's not part of the preferred persecuted target for this election cycle.

I'd recommend calling the Obama campaign to reschedule.

Unless ... Lasko, that's not Mexican, is it?

The people spoke about gay marriage, they said a resounding no, and the people have spoken about amnesty, with another resounding no.

Sorry if this offends those who’s pet ideals are different. Tough luck there. I see, however, that they’re picking up on Hilary’s attack on Fred. Thanks, Hilary, you probably gave Fred about 3 million in free advertising. Boost him again, please?

Hard to believe that a person has to have a sex change to switch to the dim party. I thought they needed a labotomy instead.

“Latin American immigrants are the new gays.”

How many times do we have to say it. I have no problem with latin american immigrants at all. It is NOT latin American immigrants. It is ILLEGAL immigrants of all races trespassing and breaking our laws.

This is what the left wants to believe. Clueless.

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

I Like Ike.

The Fiscal Cost of Low-Skill Immigrants to the U.S. Taxpayer

"Reform" must conform to the following principles:

  1. Anyone who enters this country illegally must be forever barred from legal residency, let alone citizenship.
  2. The right to obtain legal residency in the US must be fairly rationed among all the world's nations, and must not favor those who happen to have the geographic advantage of having their native country located near the US. Residency must be granted based on a variety of factors, with self-sufficiency, useful talents and/or knowledge, and other economic benefits to the US taking precedence over other considerations. Race (as opposed to nationality) should NOT be one of the factors considered, in any way at all.
  3. Taxpayers must not be responsibile for paying the bills of immigrants they cannot afford to pay themselves. The rate of new immigrants must be controlled so as to not overwhelm the capacity of our infrastructure to absorb the increased population pressures.
  4. Those born to parents neither of whom are US citizens must not automatically become US citizens.
  5. English must be mastered before citizenship is granted. Legal residency should require either mastery of English, or yearly enrollment in a semester-long course in English as a second language.
  6. And last, but not least: No reform is permissible until we prove we can a) remove the illegals who are here, and b) prevent new illegals from arriving.

Frank Cerabino

I didn’t even know Florida was in “the South” anymore. Didn’t we get kicked out of “the South” years ago. And if not, why not? Where can we tender our letter of resignation?

Secondly, why on earth are we looking to encourage more people to come here at the end of January? Haven’t we got enough visitors here already?

We don’t need any more attention. Besides, I think we’ve already done enough harm to the political process during the past six years. Let’s give somebody else a chance to screw up.

I have been saying that even more important than a border fence, is we should be demanding that people need to show proper ID to vote. We already have at least 12 million illegals here, and many are voting!

People do get in trouble for illegal voting, but because the ballot is secret, they don’t negate their vote. So once they get in and vote, they skew an election. Texas just admitted thousands of illegals voted in the last election.

The Demos should not be getting away cheapening the votes of citizens.

The ultimate bigotry is calling illegal aliens “immigrants”.

I am tired of this pandering to illegals. They are not “immigrants”.

Bingo - and that is why the MSM and the Democrats so wanted this bill.

Bush was a fool. He thought he could gain a legacy by that horrible bill.

Meanwhile, we cannot even make people show a photo ID at a voting booth.

What an ass this Frank Cerabino guy is! Yeah, everybody to the right of Howard Dean is a racist...

I keep hearing about what a racist I am and then I see my wonderful (Latina) wife of some 14 years walk by or one of our children. Then of course I sit back and ponder "how can I oppress these minorities today?" I mean, it's my duty as a registered Republican, right?

These people are so sick. Everything with them is race, not law.

These liberals project their own dishonest scapegoating onto traditional Americans.

These libs work everday to attack and scapegoat anyone who does not go along with their plans they developed while high on drugs.

Then they immediately blame their opponents for scapegoating people.

Just like when the left scapegoats Catholics and Evangelicals for oppression and mean spiritedness when they protest baby killing.

I read this:

“Lasko donated $25 to the Obama campaign and wrote about her transformation from a Republican to a Democrat.”

Then this:

“And she has an interesting background, including service as an officer in the Army.”

Then I thought, “She’s gay as hell.”

“Lasko had a sex change two years ago.”

Bingo.

It was a 56-43 vote. That means Democrats voted against it.

Many Dems will vote against anything with the stain of a Bush endorsement or sponsorship on it. And many of the more rabid liberal Dems voted against it because it didn't go far enough in bestowing full citizenship rights on their potential voters.

I haven’t gone through the vote, but Rush said many freshman Demos voted against it. His impression was they haven’t been “Washingtonized” yet, that they are still in touch with the people that sent them.

If you remember November’s election, many democratic freshmen reps were considered more conservative than their predecessors. Perhaps elected as an alternative to their RINO opponents. Pelosi even had trouble rallying a few to her wacked out liberal agenda.
