BRITAIN will not yield to acts of "evil", Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Sunday after three botched car bomb attacks in two days in London and Glasgow.
"We will not yield, we will not be intimidated,'' he said in an interview with BBC television, after his government raised the national security level to "critical'' following the attacks.
He said terrorism "can never be justified as an act of faith'',

It is good to see Brown bolster his position. He has been steadfast in this.
” Britain will not yield to ‘evil’ - Brown “
I’d feel better about it if Britain hadn’t knuckled under to Iran in the “sailor snatch” a couple of months ago....
Talk is cheap.....
Amen
The moozies are putting Brown to the test in his first few days in office. It’ll be interesting to see how he shapes up.
” Itll be interesting to see how he shapes up. “
Yep — watching...
(Parenthetically, our politically-correct, ‘offend nobody’, all-for-show non-system over here hasn’t really been tested, yet, either... If history - specifically anthrax 2001, and the beltway snipers - is any predictor, I don’t hold out much hope....)
The great thing for Britain this time, aside from having a stand-up guy in charge is that the terrorists were so incompetent.
Why? Here are some thoughts:
1) It can't look like an accident. No one could really tell at first if it was an attack or an accident. If you're trying to make a statement to the entire nation, you can't leave any doubt, because many people will doubt it regardless and your message is lost right along with your lives. It has to be so obvious that there can't be any undercurrent of "conspiracy talk" or anything like that. For all some people know, some guy was listening to Britney Spears music for the first time, convulsed and drove into the barriers. It could happen...
2) Don't catch on fire. It's really very unprofesssional and the people in the immediate area may even enjoy watching you burn. When you become "part of the entertainment", your message is going to be lost. Reducing your Jihad to the level of a poor Vegas act isn't going to help your brothers in Jihad much. When the Americans start sending boxes of Smores instead of relief packages to your intended target, you've screwed up big time.
3) Don't get caught. Really. Think "Eternal incarceration". No virgins for you boys. Rather, you'll be 'splain' your problems to Sean and Scott, two soccer loving Yobs held over form the last tourny. The guards are going to tell them that you root for the other team, doesn't matter who it was. Cheers fellahs. Welcome to the rest of your life...
I am extremely glad that none of these bombs caused any damage, still, one has to wonder how Mr. Brown would have reacted if one had gone off.
” Why? Here are some thoughts: “
Thanks...
Needed the chuckle this morning.... ;~)
I guess Brown still hasn't read the koran. Terrorism is touted as one of the most effective tools to suceed in "fighting in Allah's(Satan) cause.
But, he does recognise it is an act of evil in all circumstances. Maybe some day he'll connect the dots and realize Islam IS evil.
Bukhari:V4B52N220 "Allah's Apostle said, I have been made victorious with terror.'"
Qur'an:8:12"I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle."
Qur'an:8:57 "If you gain mastery over them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would terrorize them, so that they would learn a lesson and be warned."
Ishaq:326 "If you come upon them, deal so forcibly as to terrify those who would follow, that they may be warned. Make a severe example of them by terrorizing Allah's enemies."
Ishaq:326"Allah said, No Prophet before Muhammad took booty from his enemy nor prisoners for ransom.'[because the were men of God, not Satan's evil helper like Mohammad] Muhammad said, I was made victorious with terror. The earth was made a place for me to clean. I was given the most powerful words. Booty was made lawful for me. I was given the power to intercede. These five privileges were awarded to no prophet before me.'"
Qur'an:7:3 "Little do you remember My warning. How many towns have We destroyed as a raid by night? Our punishment took them suddenly while they slept for their afternoon rest. Our terror came to them; Our punishment overtook them."
Ishaq:510 "When the Apostle looked down on Khaybar he told his Companions, O Allah, Lord of the Devils [ That clearly tells you who "Allah" is] and what into terror they throw, and Lord of the winds and what they winnow, we ask Thee for the booty of this town and its people. Forward in the name of Allah.' He used to say this of every town he raided."
Religion of peace, right?
Fascism was a socio/economic system established by Binito Mussolini in Italy in the 1920s. Fascism can exist only in an industrial based advanced society. Basically it calls for a close association between government/industry. Private property is permitted to a selected few but it is tightly controlled and governed by government. The entire economic market is controlled by government.
Fascism requires a totalitarian state because it must be imposed.
Islam is the enemy. Don’t qualify it by falling for the conventional wisdom that only a few “extremists” Muslims are attacking us. Certainly there are no doubt Muslim dissidents, as there are in every war.
We did not say, for example, that “250,000 extremists Germans hailed Hitler at the Nirenberg rallies.” We did not say that only extremists Japanese danced in the streets on December, 7, 1941. We went to war against all Germans and all Japanese wherever they were found.
It is not politically correct, but it is surely factually correct that the Islamic world is at war against civilization. Where there are Muslims, there is our enemy. Deal with it.
“Talk is cheap.....”
- Yes, I’m afraid these attacks have set back Brown’s original plan to begin his tenure in a move designed to increase his popularity among leftists and defeatists everywhere by officially announcing Britain’s troop withdrawal from Iraq. He was going to show the world that, unlike Blair, he was not going to be “Bush’s poodle”.
Now that Britain has been attacked again, how can he make such an announcement without appearing to cave in to the terrorists? Why, that would put Britain on a par no better than Spain. What a dilemma!
It's certainly a rag-tag bunch, with the London attack completely foiled, and the Scotland attack bungled.
Gordon Brown needs to show that the jihadis' assessment that he could be influenced is completely false. Rather than tough talk, action is required. My suggestion? Announce an INCREASE in the UK's troop commitment to Iraq.
I wouldn’t be putting money on that...
He's weaseling already.
Before your country of Britain either sinks into an Islamic 13 th century mess or survives, lots of people are going to get hurt by the inane feel good immigration laws Parliament has passed.
You might as well buy some KY jelly and bend over now or else quickly find the cajoles the whining liberals lost long ago.
Monsters.
Britain will not yield to ‘evil’ - Brown
code word for islam or muzzie terrorists!!!!
“Religion of peace, right?”
WRONG... Death Cult!
LLS
That is all well and good, but the thing to watch for is action, not rhetoric.
You are pioneeering cloning techniques which mix human and animal cells in chimeric embryos, you export abortion technology all over the world, homosexual unions are championed everywhere, it is now a crime to call homosexuality "abnormal" or a "perversion" and the Christian religion is held in contempt. And that's only some of it.
Britain is the flagship for the "culture of death".
You reap what you sow.
The Brits are the only people in the world who have ever eradicated a death cult (the Thugee Cult of 19th century India.) Now they have joined the pack and embrace the concept of PC-ness.
Nature endowed each one us with the ability to recognize an enemy instantly. Unfortunately the PC age is upon us and we must now be taught to overcome our prejudices. Prejudice is a self-preservation trait that is part of our human makeup.
” Americans don’t know how to NOT be free “
I hope that’s still a true statement...
After some 60 years of “New Deal” big government, coupled with exponentially growing nanny-statism, bolstered by 30 years of NEA-controlled indoctrination of our children in the ‘public’ schools, I’m not as confident as I’d like to be......
“We will not yield, we will not be intimidated,’’
That’s good, but I wish he had said:
“Unfortunately, because their ideology promotes terrorism, and essentially none of them have repudiated terrorism, Britain is taking the step of deporting all of them, effective midnight tomorrow”.
I can wish.
Didn't the Mongols also manage to wipe out the original Assassins (also known as the Hashshashin)? I think that they qualified as a "death cult" also, though perhaps not exactly in the same manner as the Thugee worshippers of Kali.
Brown better have a talk with the Mayor of London who is already apologizing to the Muslims.
The New PM gave a very bad signal to the Islamofascists in his talk to the UK people after Tony left. Now the UK people will pay for that message of weakness.
Hopefully, John Howard will enable Brown to find his balls and backbone before it is to late for our UK cousins.

U.K. police make 5th terror arrest By IAN STEWART, Associated Press Writer
49 minutes ago
Police searched several houses near Glasgow’s airport and made a fifth arrest Sunday in connection with a fiery attack on its main terminal and foiled car bombings in London, which the prime minister suggested were carried out by terrorists linked to al-Qaida.
The terrorist threat that Britain faces is “long-term and sustained,” Prime Minister Gordon Brown said in a nationally televised interview. It is clear, he said, “that we are dealing, in general terms, with people who are associated with al-Qaida.”
After meeting with the country’s top intelligence officers, police and senior officials, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said Britain would not be cowed.
“We won’t, as the British people, be intimidated or let anyone stop us getting on with our lives,” Smith said.
On Friday, police thwarted an apparent plot to set off a coordinated bomb attack in central London when an ambulance crew outside a nightclub spotted smoke coming from a Mercedes found rigged with explosives. They found a second Mercedes filled with explosives hours later.
And on Saturday, two men rammed a flaming Jeep into the main entrance of Glasgow airport, shattering the glass doors and igniting a fire just yards from people lined up at check-in counters.
“Al-Qaida has imported the tactics of Baghdad and Bali to the streets of the UK,” said Lord Stevens, Brown’s terrorism adviser.
The two men from the Glasgow attack were in police custody Sunday, one of them under guard in the hospital after being engulfed in flames when the Jeep crashed into the airport.
Early Sunday, police arrested two people a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman on a major highway in Cheshire, northern England, in a joint swoop by officers from London and Birmingham, Scotland Yard said in London. A fifth suspect was arrested in Liverpool, police there said.
Police said officers were searching a residential area about a mile from the airport. In Houston, a small town just outside Glasgow, police cordoned off the area around a two-story house to search it.
The two attacks clearly are linked, police and security officials said, noting that all three vehicles contained flammable materials including gasoline and gas cylinders.
Britain on Saturday raised its terror alert to “critical” the highest possible level and the Bush administration announced plans to increase security at airports and on mass transit.
The new terror threat presents Brown with an enormous challenge early in his premiership and comes at a time of already heightened vigilance one week before the anniversary of the July 7, 2005, London transit attacks. Those were largely carried out by local Muslims, exacerbating ethnic tensions in Britain.
Kenny MacAskill, Scotland’s justice secretary, said the two Glasgow attackers were not “born and bred here.”
“Any suggestion to be made that they are homegrown terrorists is not true,” he said.
Brown, a Scot who replaced Tony Blair as prime minister just days earlier, urged Britons to remain “constantly vigilant” about security. He said “Everything is being done in our power ... to protect people’s lives.”
“We will not yield, we will not be intimidated, and we will not allow anyone to undermine our British way of life,” he told the British Broadcasting Corp. in a TV interview.
Lord Stevens, London’s former police chief, called it a major escalation in the campaign waged by Islamic militants.
In a column in Sunday’s News of the World newspaper, he wrote that the terrorists are using “the same technology, the same bomb-making techniques, the same operating methods as their brothers-in-arms in both Baghdad and Bali,” referring to the 2002 and 2005 attacks on the Indonesian resort island that killed more than 200 people.
Glasgow police chief Willie Rae said a suspicious device was found on a man wrestled to the ground by officers at Glasgow airport and hospitalized in critical condition with severe burns.
John Smeaton, who saw the attack, said the man shouted “Allah, Allah” as he was detained.
Glasgow airport began reopening Sunday, although the airport operator warned many flights would be canceled. The crashed Jeep remained out front, covered in a blue tarpaulin, and cars were not allowed to drive up to the terminal.
Officers also were reviewing closed-circuit television footage in the search for clues into the foiled London bombings.
The incident hinted of a foiled December 1999 plot to attack Los Angeles International Airport. Customs agents stopped a man in a car packed with 124 pounds of explosives. He is serving a 22-year prison sentence for the plot.
And last year, a 35-year-old British convert to Islam was convicted of plotting to bomb several U.S. financial targets and luxury London hotels with a plot that called for using limousines packed with gas tanks, napalm and nails.
In April, accused members of an al-Qaida-linked terror cell were convicted of conspiring to blow up the Ministry of Sound nightclub, one of London’s biggest music venues.
I don’t know about Brown: he has a reputation for being a
“distributionist” (share the wealth).
So the term IslamoFascism might be used to indicate -- very much like the word does -- the joining of these two pernicious manifestations of evil.
We will react like cornered rats to loss of freedom. It's not in our nature to not be free.
Of course it's not in any human being's nature to not be free (hence salvation). However, it's dismaying that the water gets hot and then the frog dies...
While you are right to point out the infelicity of the phrase “Islamic Fascist” (though it would apply to the late phase of Ba’athist Iraq, once Saddam added ‘Allahu Akbar’ to the Iraqi flag), the inistence that Islam as a whole is our enemy deprives us of the useful strategy of divide and conqueror.
In Iraq we have Muslim allies and Muslim enemies. If we insist on fighting against all of Islam, we have handed Al Qaeda a victory by uniting the ummah against the West—precisely what they vainly hoped would happen in the wake of an American over-reaction to 9/11.
We have Persian Shi’ite Twelvers, and their proxies (Al Sadr’s Mahdi Army, Hamas and Hezbollah), and various assorted restore-the-Caliphate Sunnis ranging from Al Qaeda to Hizb ut Tahrir as active enemies, the Alawite Ba’athists in Syria as bad actors, sometimes helping Iranian proxies, but not directly hostile (and intermittently cooperative against Al Qaeda, since an Al Qaeda-inspired Sunni uprising would threaten their hold on power).
On the other hand, the vast bulk of Kurds, most Iraqi Shi’ites, an increasing number of traditional Iraqi Sunnis, are all active allies, as (with dubious reliability) is the Sunni regime in Pakistan, and the secularized, but still Muslim, Turks. Shi’ite Seveners (Ismaelis) and Ziyadhis (Fourers), while not actively helpful, are not openly hostile to the West in any way, and tend to be persecuted by groups which are.
It is not useful to insist that Islam is the enemy, any more that it would have been to insist the East Asians were the enemy in the wake of Pearl Harbor, thereby adding our allies—the Chinese—to the list of enemies and perhaps pushing the Japanese to adopt more humane treatment of them, to coopt them and cement them into the “Greater East Asian Coprosperity Sphere”.
Making a distinction, whether in felicitious language (say denouncing as our enemies Salafists and Tahkfiri—terms Muslims themselves use to describe the political and doctrinal tendencies represented by Al Qaeda—in the case of Sunnis—and Hojjiatieh—the Muslim term for the doctrinal position of Ahmadinejad—in the case of the Shia) or infelicitious language (Islamic Fascism), between that part of Islam which is actively hostile to us, and the part which includes actual and potential allies is useful to our cause.
