Seems to me he should be telling this stuff to his daughters. If he hasn’t instilled the kind of values he desires into them by the time they start dating, knocking the boys around the head isn’t going to solve the problems....that horse is already out of the gate and both kids will probably rebel making it worse.
BTW - Reading this I kept wondering if he also forced his girls get clitorectimies.

He makes his point. I'm sure he did lay down for his daughters. I did to mine. Girls are very vulnerable to the right chemistry, more so than boys.

Great article. In fact I’d treat the perp trying to date my daughter (if I had one) far worse.

I find the coarseness rather off-putting, but sometimes hes funny. Yeah, I agree. My first thought after reading this was "I wouldn't date his daughter just because I don't think I'd like the family she comes from".

It’s his Act; everyone’s got one of some kind. This one’s far from my favorite, though.

From the article....
....then you need to find a girl who doesnt have a father like me.
Unfortunately.... that's all too easy to do these days.

If a boy can get past my stony, unforgiving (read impolite) attitude, he is proper potential for my little girl. If he cuts and runs, he has become the appropriate victim of natural selection.

That’s one way of looking at it. We’re not waiting for boys of any type to show up on the doorstep. Instead, we’re directing our daughter’s attention toward suitable young men from religious families whom we know well. We also offer hints to the young men’s parents :-).
Our oldest, being overly familiar with boys (five brothers ...) is thinking of being an old maid with cats. She’s got the idea of being a General!

Sounds somewhat like what my mother and one uncle would say. I for one, have no father who holds any responsibility as my “dad”... but God has a book-His Bible, He is my father (since I’m fatherless), and these Doug Gile Commandments aren’t too far fetched from old-fashion bethrothal or Ancient Israelite customs.
I love it!
And Squantos, I keep FreeRepublic as a homepage, seen your name.. then checked out your profile, and your links. Then clicked on the “ten commandments for boyfriends”.
Nice to read!

you are a real class act chief. For your sake and your mindset, It’s good that pop culture laws protect all that’s wrong today.

Son, I never needed the law protect me. I was meaner and better armed. Luckily for everyone involved, I got old. My days of back alley dealings are gone, and I have grandchildren to spoil.
However, my comment stands. No girl was as easy to talk out of her panties as one who’s father kept her perpetually pissed off. It was always the girl with the easy going dad who she just couldn’t bear to dissapoint who was well armored. A lot of would be tyrants should take careful note of that.

tyrant Dads - bad, I agree.
But to challenge Dads who want to protect their daughters - not cool in my opinion.
