Breaking...that's it so far.
Explosion was just after midnight near downtown Disney.
Chertoff on F&F (Fluff&Folly) saying, in effect, “Nothing to see here — move along, folks”...
Having mocked, and before moving on, I’ll be fair and note that “pipe bombs” aren’t traditional weapons for ME terrorists —
What are you hearing about this?
Agreed. Sounds more like some punks.
True...could be just an ordinary nut. We’ve had those for quite a while.
So does that make 7 arrests thus far?
Chertoff looks like a spook. Whoever put this guy where he is wasn’t thinking..... oh yeah it was our President.
Yes, 7. I meant to put “2 terror suspects nabbed”...but typed too quickly.
LLS
I heard yesterday they were looking for a 6th suspect so obviously they added another name to their list.
The headline on the Fox website says Glasgow police arrested 2 more suspects.
Don’t believe the propaganda that Jihad Mickey is dead.
Is it just me or are terrorist(?) in Britan losing their touch?
Could these be the underlings creating cover for a larger event?
Hopefully it’s the former and not the latter.
Bah, you two beat me to the Jihad Mickey comments.
Nothing about this at the Orlando Sentinel.
I can’t find anything about anything amiss in FLA. checked FOX, the sentinel and the AP wire - nothing. that part must be bogus.
There has been a series of newspaper articles in the Orlando Sentinel in the last few days about rowdy teenagers after dark at Disney. A few days ago, there were charges of racism when the security personnel ejected some black teens. This may be a reaction to those articles, or it may be someone just trying to reinforce the notion that something is askew at Disney.
I think Disney obviously needs to beef up security, but I am certain they have not been slacking. The security challenges are increasing, and they’ve got to adjust.
Chertoff confirmed the story while on Fox this morning. (Ya mean he was wrong!? GASP!) Not sure why it’s not appearing anywhere else.
Farfour!
WTF??

Sorry for the cross-post, but wondering if maybe this might be the ‘real’ story, that F&F got wrong.......
Odd, isn’t it? Checked all the local news outlets here and..nothing.
Chertoff was on Fox & Friends and said Homeland Security knew about it. But he does exhibit a decided lack of understanding when it comes to reality- so who knows?
Yup. And, Mel Martinez as head of the GOP.
Possibly..but the earlier story said it was an actual pipe-bomb explosion at Downtown Disney. It may just have been kids messing with fireworks-it doesn’t seem the media is following up on it..
GLASGOW, Scotland Police said Monday they arrested two more men as suspects in the car bomb attack on Glasgow airport.
Strathclyde police said two men, aged 25 and 28, had been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, correcting an earlier report one suspect was 20 years old. “This continues to be a fast-moving investigation,” said Assistant Chief Constable John Malcolm.
Police kept up the intense hunt for more suspects behind failed terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow, as details emerged that authorities had been close on the trail of the airport bombers, one of whom may have been a local doctor.
Rental agent Daniel Gardiner, whose company leased a Glasgow-area home searched by police, said authorities contacted his firm just ahead of the Glasgow International Airport attack on Saturday.
Meanwhile, British police were sifting through large amounts of evidence from the vehicles and from video surveillance of the scenes where two car bombs failed to explode in central London on Friday and two men rammed a Jeep Cherokee into the Glasgow airport’s entrance the following day.
Police have arrested five suspects while conducting raids across a country on its highest level of alert and are searching for others. None of them have been identified, but British officials have said they are hunting for what they called an Al Qaeda-linked network behind the three attempted terrorist attacks.
Security in London was highly visible Monday morning, with long lines of cars forming behind police checkpoints on the London Bridge. Concrete car-blockers were in place protecting the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
“It is clear that we are dealing, in general terms, with people who are associated with Al Qaeda,” Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Sunday.
Brown, who replaced outgoing Prime Minister Tony Blair last week, said the threat would be “long-term and sustained” but said the country would not be cowed by the plot targeting central London and Glasgow’s airport.
“We will not yield, we will not be intimidated and we will not allow anyone to undermine our British way of life,” he said in a televised interview.
A British government security official said a loose U.K.-wide network appeared to be behind the attacks but investigators were struggling to pin down suspects’ identities.
“These are not the type of people who always carry identity documents, or who use their real identities,” the official said on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the inquiries.
Gardiner, an official at the Let-It house rental agency in Glasgow, said police contacted his company on Saturday afternoon, just minutes before the airport attacks.
“A card was put through one of my colleague’s door, asking if we would contact them,” he said. The colleague found the note at 3:05 p.m, 10 minutes before the airport attack, Gardiner said.
“A couple of hours later, they (police) came back to us with a name, and we were able to trace their records,” he said. “The police wanted to know why we had dialed a certain phone number. They had the phone records from the situation down in London.”
The unidentified driver of the Jeep is being treated for serious burns at Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital in Glasgow, where he is under arrest by armed police. A 27-year-old man also was arrested at the airport attack by police and was being held at a high-security police station in Glasgow.
Gardiner said the suspect tenant had a six-month lease on the house in Houston, a small suburb of Glasgow.
He said the man was seen leaving the house wearing a stethoscope and was thought to be a doctor at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley on the outskirts of Glasgow. A controlled explosion was carried out Sunday on a car left at the hospital. Police said it was linked to the airport attack.
Residents of homes that were raided by police in central England and Liverpool have claimed suspects arrested were doctors or medical students. Britain’s Sky News and several British newspapers also reported that two men arrested over the attacks were doctors working in British hospitals. But police in London and Glasgow have refused to comment on the claims.
Gardiner said his agency was only aware that one man was living in the rented Houston house, as it only had one tenant on their records.
Police interviewed staff at the Let-It office and took away all documentation about the tenant, he said.
On Sunday, police sealed off the address and spent the day searching the property for clues about the bomb plots.
No, a pipe bomb reminds one of OKC and the right-wing, extremist, racist militia movement (sarcasm). Morris Dees is probably trying to raise funds for his SPLC.

Chertoff also helped engineer the Katrina mess. it seems to me Bush had been doing great until that the hurrican hit NO - IMHO the Katrina fiasco ultimately cost the GOP the 2006 Congressional elections...
“Hopefully its the former and not the latter.”
3 attempts and all they got was arrested or burned.
I’m in Orlando. Checked usual sources. No one knows what this headline is about. Looks like BS.
Chertoff doing the job Americans don’t, Dont just do something - stand there!
“IMHO the Katrina fiasco ultimately cost the GOP the 2006 Congressional elections...”
I’m *sure* that weighed *heavily* on the minds of GOP voters. (s) You are kidding?
I checked the Orlando Slantenel, and no mention of the incident.
LMAO!
They said it had been confirmed when they announced it & Chertoff was on minutes later and confirmed it also. Guess Fox & Chertoff blew it. Now there’s a shocker.

Related or old news? A search for “pipe bomb Disney” yields some interesting results. I guess it is not the first time for Disney to deal with such items.
the Katrina fiasco was a disaster for GWB as much as for NO...
and Chertoff holds much of the blame since he was supposed to coordinate this sort of thing...
i would hope looks didnt play a part in it but they said clinton was good looking so maybe the prez should of hired him
It is now being reported as smoke from a garbage can. ??
Have you noticed that the reports on murder have stoped? Is that because there are no more murders or is it because the reports were a problem with tourists?
I had that EXACT thought this morning- what happened to all the murders in Orlando? It could be under-reporting because of tourists..or maybe the special group the feds sent in are doing something right? Could that be?
Smoke from a garbage can? LOL!
Ooooooooohhhh, he was speaking Arabic?? Now there’s an interesting piece of data.
In Mississippi we appreciated the EFFORT put out by the Federal Government. Louisiana was a different story, due to State incompetence. To those outside of the storm track... the media portrays the effort in a lying and dim produced form.
BTW, my family lost three homes and three businesses... we are back strong and without Federal $$$... as the majority of us have done.

More on the Orlando “pipe bomb” at
http://www.local6.com/news/13605034/detail.html
“After an investigation, Orange County sheriff’s officials said they were confident that device was not terrorism related.
Local 6 has learned that detectives are looking into the possibility that a prankster or a disgruntled employee caused the explosion.”
Small device, went off after midnight nothing hurt except a garbage can.
