Mikal Carter Watts, a San Antonio trial lawyer, has set up an exploratory committee for a race to win the Democratic primary and then take on incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the General Election in 2008.

Watts has also filed a statement with the U.S. Senate indicating he intends to expend personal funds totaling $10 million. He listed $3,810,661.81 for the primary and $6,189,333.19 for the General Election, totaling $9,999,995.

Good luck taking Cornyn on. That guy works pretty damn hard.

I’m all for it! Great way to bleed off a $%^&*( trial lawyer’s fortune, to no effect.

In a statewide race, this boob stands zero chance against Sen. Cornyn.

John Cornyn votes the way I want him to vote. My only problem with him was a perceived lack of leadership — of being out in front of an issue.

His performance in killing the Shamnesty act laid that (mis)perception of mine to rest!

1) Texas is a deep Red state.
2) Texans hate Rats
3) Cornyn has nothing to worry about

...besides, I have Cornyn's back!

I hope you’re right. Who’s watching the polling places in inner city Houston and Dallas? Dems are likely to try and steal tens of thousands of votes.

... with Austin/Travis County the exception that proves your rule.

"Dems are likely to try and routinely steal tens of thousands of votes."

Fixed.

Don't worry my friend, Cornyn is loved by his base, and has not betrayed us in one single way.

Besides, this is Texas.

One thing I like about they guy is he routinely calls into the AM talk shows here in Texas and says what he is up to any why and answers questions from the host and the listeners without dodging the question. Even when I don’t agree with him, I appreciate him taking the time to do that.

democRAT primary campaign for the Senate: $3,810,661.81
General election for the Senate: $6,189,333.19

Watching a leftist lawyer blow $10 million to lose an election: priceless.

You're forgetting that the unions control SE TX (Beaumont, Port Arthur, and surrounding territory,) and the Valley. All are blue spots on an otherwise red map.

I sure don't think this is enough to beat Cornyn, just pointing out that we have several "blue" areas in the state, not just Austin.

When a guy is trying to buy an election with his own money, it suggests to me that he doesn't think he'd do very well if he had to depend on raising money within the state--which is a good thing.

Have no fear, just when a rich sugar daddy offers to try to buy a Senate seat for the ‘rats, the ‘rats snatch certain defeat from the jaws of ... probable defeat.

Over the weekend, State Rep. Rick Noriega announced that he is also going to run for Senate. Noriega is the guy who wrote and sponsored the Texas law that requires Texas to offer in-state tuition and financial aid to illegal alien applicants to Texas colleges.

Noriega will beat Watts in the primary because Watts is against abortion on demand (which Noriega supports) and so it will be a one-issue primary which Noriega will win going away.

While there might have some remote threat from Millionaire Watts (because who knows what might happen with enough money thrown into the race), Noriega won’t be able to raise a nickle. Just call him “Radnofsky 2.0.”

Here is the ultimate punchline uber-Republican Bob Perry has been grooming Noriega for this run and he will sponsor Noriega’s primary run against Watts (until after the primary, when Perry will come back to Senator Cornyn for the general election).

"John Cornyn votes the way I want him to vote."

He still has MicroSoft up his butt and is bowing over backwards to increase the H1b visas to an unlimited yearly quota. That's my one sore spot with the guy and he hears from me about it often.

"...unlimited yearly quota."

Is it unlimited, or is there a quota?

It can't be both.

I think you are exaggerating a 'tiny' bit. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Get a life. Had you asked me about The actual bill that he is trying to pass, you would have made an intelligent reply.

See chutzpah

You sure have lots of it. You expect an intelligent reply based on your perceived brilliant statement which was full of hyperbole and contradictions?

Let's be straight here, I'm only asking for facts on why you want Washington DC to do something about Microsoft?

Secondly, you are flat out misguided if you believe John Cornyn is for unlimited H1B Visas.

Since I never mentioned wanting Washington to do something about Microsoft, your reply is meaningless.

I agree. Let’s let Noriega and Perry do our dirty work for us. Watts may make it a close race but Noriega stands no chance especially after his sugar daddy Perry dumps him after a primary battle.

OK, I'll play your game.

So when Cornyn "hears" from you, do you mention how you hate "MicroSoft up his butt", yet don't recommend any legislative action?

When I write Cornyn, I tell him that I hate the color Chevy Tahoe he drives.
