114 congressmen: Why is DOT ignoring law?
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | July 4, 2007

Posted on 07/04/2007 4:33:00 AM PDT by Man50D

More than 100 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have written to President Bush, asking him why the Department of Transportation apparently is ignoring what the legislators want.

The issue was raised by U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., who circulated the letter dealing with plans to hurry along with a "demonstration" project to allow Mexican truckers access to U.S. roads. Specifically, the letter raised concerns about federal agency actions – apparently despite what Congress wrote into the law.

"The U.S. Congress and the American people seriously question the ability of Mexican motor carriers and drivers to adhere to our country's strict safety rules, as well as the administration's preparedness and willingness to ensure Mexican truck drivers obey our homeland security and immigration rules," said the letter.

"As such, Congress mobilized to speak against it. Congress had already passed H.R. 1773, the 'Safe American Roads Act of 2007,' which passed overwhelmingly 411-3, and related language in P.L. 110-28, the FY07 supplemental appropriations act. Both pieces of legislation provided strict measures to ensure that the Department of Transportation and the pilot program would adhere to security guidelines and that an independent panel would assess their progress in ensuring American safety," the letter continued.

If Bush continues to refuse to enforce U.S. immigration laws, to secure the Mexican Border, and to halt further illegal immigration, he should be impeached.

Having spent many miles and many hours driving around our wonderful country, I can tell you that, by and large, truck drivers are some of the most patriotic Americans you’ll find.

Perhaps it’s time for them to start “rolling protests” (where they drive just below the speed limit and occupy all lanes) to show their distaste for this garbage.

I assume everyone realizes that this, along with the Amnesty Bill, are two of President Bush’s major efforts in implementing the NAU.

Try driving the Interstate between Nogales and Tucson. The Mexican trucks are guaranteed to give you a thrill.

Uh, most of the American truck drivers out there are free enterprise Americans...

You'll have to find another excuse for being anti-American...

Everyone in the trucking and distribution industry knows that the roads and highways are clogged with trucks driven by Mexican drivers who are unqualified, untrained, unhealthy, cannot speak or read English fluently, not in compliance with DOT rules and regulations and working for $12.00 a day.

It’s about CHEAP LABOR.

Did you ever see a Mexican vehicle operating on the roads in Mexico? All Mexican trucks and drivers are certified as safe and qualified by Mexican authorities. The trucks and drivers are given a pass once across the border

Already the number of accidents involving large trucks is increasing after decades of decline..

Were dealing with the Trans-Texas Corridor and the Mexican trucker pilot program here in the Houston area.

No one I know is for it. In fact, ranchers and property owners just north of us from Plantersville to Dallas area are admittedly opposed to it.

This is the largest destruction of property rights ever seen in the Lone Star State and Rick Perry, his Washington buddy GWB and all their globalist cohorts are cramming this down our throats just like their hokie immigration bill.

Traitors......they are ignoring the will of the people that put them in office.

We do not celebrate royalty here in America. I believe in praying and trusting our leaders, but when our leaders threaten the sovereignty of America and Texas....all bets are off.

This TTC and DOT programs were “not” put up for a vote, it was enacted under the cover of back room politics.

Yes. He should have. And his tax cuts stimulated the economy to unprecedented heights of prosperity. He made two good Supreme Court appointments. And 9/11 was never repeated because of Bush's attentive leadership.

But...what I said is the terrible reality... I'm sure you agree.

Chinese-born businessman Zhenli Ye Gon in interviewed in his lawyer's office in Queens, N.Y., Thursday May 17, 2007. In what was the largest seizure of cash in the history of drug enforcement: $207 million, mostly in crisp $100 bills, was found stuffed into walls, closets and suitcases in the Mexico City home of Ye Gon. He told The Associated Press that most of the money belonged to Mexico's ruling party. (AP Photo/Richard Drew) (RICHARD DREW)

The married Ye Gon squired his mistress around in a Lamborghini. During frequent trips to Las Vegas, he said he bet $150,000 a hand in baccarat, and authorities say he lost more than $40 million to U.S. casinos. He was such a treasured customer that The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino gave him a Rolls-Royce

Bush, and all of the political hacks and their elitist corporate contributors, will be known for accelerating the globalization of the American economy, thereby assuring the destruction of the United States, all for the mighty global GDP.

Buchanan is correct. There is no turning back, my friend. On this July 4th, I am afraid that you can kiss The Constitution of the United States goodbye.

Very sad, indeed.

Please don't take a hit here, this is an honest question.

Have you ever really thought about this? Do you really believe this is due to Bush's attentive leadership?

If this were true, it would be the only area where he has shown competency or that he wants to protect this country.

In fact, with open borders it is impossible to prevent such attacks.

There's an elephant in this room that no one can see.

Just my opinion.
