Oops! forgot the Smilie:
We already have the Mark of the Beast in use, we have animal ID. Aka NAIS.
The mark/number will always and forever be 666 to me.
Thoughts of Bruce Dickinson running around on stage play in my head...
Ezekiel 9:3 “Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherubim on which it rested to the threshold of the house; and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writing case at his side.
4: And the LORD said to him, “Go through the city, through Jerusalem, and put a mark upon the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.” “
These people were marked with a little “X” or a cross. An X mark, if you will...
and where it the text does it say an X or cross? Is there historical evidence for this?
Lots of Alzheimer patients who have a history of elopement are getting these.
The mark was Tav, the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, probably written as an “X”, or as”+” that is, like a cross.
0.666. Mark of the millibeast.
“It will be useful for tracking down gun owners, and those that speak out against the government.”
Keep your feet wet and your powder dry...
My question is, what does any of this have to do with Nero Caesar?
If you keep your feet wet, won’t they get all pruny?
The mark won’t be a literal number. The mark on the head represents what you believe, and the mark in your hand represents your actions. In other words if you are not saved, you are already marked. Just as God will seal the names of those saved and place his mark upon them. Remember what the Bible says? All those not saved and found in the book of life will worship the beast and receive his mark. If you ain’t with God you’re with the other guy.
“what does any of this have to do with Nero Caesar?”
The same creature that possessed Nero Caesar will possess the Antichrist. It’s the same entity. He was the Beast back then, and he’ll be the Beast in the future. Not Satan, but perhaps a henchman.
As long as I don’t get raked by bullets, my feet will be pruny.
Doesn’t God already know how all this will end? If so, then He already knows who is with Him or not, doesn’t He?
No, didn’t miss your point. The Bible is one giant warning, and most of the prophetic and historical warnings were aimed at the people living during the time of the great Tribulation. God wants no one to go through that period. Many times in the Bible God uses past events to mirror symbolically what will happen in the future. The flood for example; John said we would be baptized by water (the flood) and by fire(the tribulation)
The destruction of Sodom helps us see what it will be like during the tribulation. People will be called out before the world is judged, like Lot. Like Noah. Like Moses in his little boat in Egypt.
Yes, these events took place in the past as a warning. Daniel’s 3 friends in the fiery furnance- a fire 7 times hotter than normal, symbolizing the pain people will go through on the earth (in the furnace of the tribulation)
and also- 6, being the number of man (man was created ont he 6th day), and three being the number of the Trinity, symbolizes man’s attept to become God, which is what we do all day, pushing Him out of our lives and taking control. The Antichrist will simply reflect that desire to the extreme and demand worship. And he’ll get it too.
Yes he knows, but we have freewill, and a choice to make.
“I think you missed my point. 666 translates in Hebrew reference, where each number represents a letter, into Nero Caesar. There is an almost perfect mirror of what was happening in 68-70 AD to the events in Revelation, making it plausible that this was writing about contemporary events.”
Commentators much more researched than I have written millions of pages on this topic, some of it very good, some of it seems strange. What do I know?
I do find it very interesting that a complete prohibition on buying or selling without a mark [the mark could mean an electronic mark or record], presumably implying a total control on even very basic economic trading or commerce, was not even remotely possible in the first century. I also find it very interesting that we are on the verge of such a thing becoming feasible today. For example, cash is being replaced with electronic transfers for, among other things, convenience and recordkeeping.
Just a pure hypothetical: Assume that 10 years from now we no longer use cash for transactions greater than, say, $20. Anything over, say, $100, must be in electronic form. Congress could pass a law, in the interest of public safety, that prohibits electronic transfers for the purchase of dangerous weapons, thereby closing down private purchases of firearms. Then a more liberal leaning Supreme Court could rule that such a law does not violate the second amendment because the law does not deal with keeping or bearing arms.
Is it possible to make a decision/choice that God doesn’t already know the result to?

A GENERATION IS ALL THEY NEED
Research is all there for the reading.
Only after Jews were identified -- a massive and complex task that Hitler wanted done immediately -- could they be targeted for efficient asset confiscation, ghettoization, deportation, enslaved labor, and, ultimately, annihilation. It was a cross-tabulation and organizational challenge so monumental, it called for a computer. Of course, in the 1930s no computer existed.
But IBM's Hollerith punch card technology did exist. Aided by the company's custom-designed and constantly updated Hollerith systems, Hitler was able to automate his persecution of the Jews. Historians have always been amazed at the speed and accuracy with which the Nazis were able to identify and locate European Jewry. Until now, the pieces of this puzzle have never been fully assembled. The fact is, IBM technology was used to organize nearly everything in Germany and then Nazi Europe, from the identification of the Jews in censuses, registrations, and ancestral tracing programs to the running of railroads and organizing of concentration camp slave labor.
IBM and its German subsidiary custom-designed complex solutions, one by one, anticipating the Reich's needs. They did not merely sell the machines and walk away. Instead, IBM leased these machines for high fees and became the sole source of the billions of punch cards Hitler needed.

Nothin to someone who is not a pre-terist. Who knows who is right?
No. He knows everything from the beginning to the end. Yes you have freewill but only God knows the outcome.
The myth of “freewill” gives us power over God. Power that we simply do not have.
Man is fallen from the day he is born and is spiritually dead in his sins. Dead men cannot “choose” life. God, in his sovereign will, moves in our hearts and gives us the faith to call upon him. Apart from him, we can do nothing on our own.
We are chosen. We do not “choose” on our own. Just as Lazarus couldn’t raise himself from the dead, nor can we who are spiritually dead choose Christ without God acting in our hearts first.
Regarding the “end-times”. Jenkins and LaHaye have made a million dollars on Tribulation fiction. Don’t buy into it. Christ will return at a time of his own choosing, and nothing we can do will delay it or hasten it. There is one spiritual resurrection (at our death), and one physical resurrection (when Christ returns). There is no “tribulation” period.
Some reading to guide you.
Your question doesn't make any sense.
Then where is the freewill, or choice?
God is not confined by time or space.
I have freewill.
But if God created us, knowing what our choices are going to be, and cannot be wrong...doesn’t that mean we must do what He knows we are going to do? Where is the freewill part? How can we really choose, if the outcome is already known? Doesn’t that mean He created us, without the ability to do anything other than what He designed us to do? Wouldn’t this idea of freewill, just be an illusion?
See my previous post. By his fall from grace, man is doomed. Unregenerate is his natural state. The sinful man by his nature cannot choose the things of God even though he has choice. His freewill is subject to his sinful nature. Just as a man without wings cannot choose to fly.
Sometimes there are mysteries that the finite human mind cannot perceive even though our egotistical nature demands an answer. Faith precedes understanding.
So, how does that matter when talking about our freewill or lack thereof?
Can you prove that you could have made different choices?
Because we don't see things as God does.
667 - Next door neighbor of the beast...
It's almost impossible for us to comprehend, because of our finite minds and severely limited knowledge about things, but the fact is God gave each of us the freedom to choose to accept Him or reject Him, and gives us the freedom to, apart from Him, choose our own course in life. And we also have the freedom to live with and sometimes suffer the consequences of some of the choices we make as a result of the free will given to us by God.
Yes. I could have just walked up to go to lunch right now but I didn't. There was a definite decision process there.
My question: Why are you hung up on whether God knows what you are going to decide at every turn?
Your comment is illogical. The “knowledge” of something is not the same as the “manipulation” of something. Just because God knows how we have chosen does not at all mean he has made the decision for us.
Terror, death, destruction pour from the Eastern sands; but the truth of all predictions is always in our hands.
BTW, it is good to think about these things. Very good.
