Muslim singer YUSUF ISLAM reportedly refused to speak with the female guides at a German event over the weekend (24-25MAR07) because they weren’t veiled.

“Mr Islam doesn’t speak with women except his wife. Least of all if they don’t wear a headscarf. Things like that only happen via an intermediary.”

But how much does he get paid to sing to the same women???

So, this gains exactly what for the planet? Will the 800 years of warming (way before pollution) stop? Will Al Gore’s gigantic environmental footprint decrease? Will they leave the arenas as clean as they found them? Why do I feel like this is political posturing gone out of control? Global warming is a fallacy. What the heck is wrong with people that they’d believe some greasy loonie toon like Gore instead of NASA scientists?

I have no idea who Xzibit is or electronica artist Kenna.

They must be BIG if they are playing algore’s concert!

Here’s a bio of Exhibit, er Xzibit:

West Coast heavyweight Xzibit expanded his following with a series of increasingly superstar-laced albums beginning in the late ‘90s, ultimately aligning himself with Cali kingpin Dr. Dre at the decade’s end. Years before, Xzibit began as a member of the Likwit Crew, a loose collective of West Coast rappers including tha Alkaholiks and King T.

Wow, I’m impressed!

(Why Cat Stevens was kept out) US accuses British charity of ‘financing terrorism’
Telegraph UK ^ | (Filed: 13/02/2005) | sdfBy Daniel Foggo and Philip Sherwell in Washington

Posted on 02/13/2005 3:51:56 PM PST by dennisw

A British charity has been accused by the American government of financing Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda and the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

The Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA), which is based in Birmingham and provides aid for orphanages and water wells in countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, has been designated by the United States treasury as being part of a network of “terrorist” charities that have allegedly “provided hundreds of thousands of dollars to Osama bin Laden”.

The Telegraph has also discovered that Yusuf Islam, the singer formerly known as Cat Stevens who was refused entry to America last September because his name was on a security watch list, has previously donated thousands of pounds to the Birmingham charity.

The reason for his exclusion has never been publicly revealed, but last night American officials indicated that the entertainer’s funding of the ISRA was one of the reasons for him being banned. Mr Islam has always denied financing terrorism.

British security services are now investigating the finances of the charity, which last year reported an income of £479,000, and are under pressure from the Americans to freeze the charity’s bank accounts.

The concern about the British charity’s activities is disclosed in documents published by the US Treasury’s office of public affairs. It states that a charity called the Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), which has its headquarters in the Sudan “was co-founded and financed by Osama bin Laden and is the precursor organisation of al-Qaeda”. It says that this charity is linked with, or has interchangeable names, with a number of other charities, including the ISRA in Britain.......

Thanks for the background. You might as well have written it in hieroglyphics. Strange thing is that I’m a musician, albeit an old one (haven’t performed in a couple of years), jazz primarily, and I do try to follow pop music, yet I’ve never heard of these folks.

Guess I better stop listening to Limbaugh and tune into what is hip!

Ya know, I have this funny feeling that this “ALGORE” concert thing is going to be a big bust. Just like everything else this jabloney has ever tried.

“Morning Has Broken” was around long before Cat Stevens. It was originally written in 1931 and set to the tune of the hymn “Child in the Manger,” from 1888.

Cat Stevens had a great album in ‘78. Remember the Days of the Old Schoolyard was one of the songs on it. John Russell’s sister used to listen to it all the time. Everytime I hear it, I think of Roma. It shame Cat turned into a Jihadist..

Official: Cat Stevens Has Possible Terror Ties

Excerpt:

The singer formerly known as Cat Stevens (search) is forbidden from flying into the United States because of his alleged association with possible terrorists, U.S. officials said Wednesday in explaining why a London-to-Washington flight carrying the peace activist was diverted.

The claim was disputed by the brother of the London-born singer, who changed his name to Yusuf Islam more than 25 years ago.

David Gordon (search) said his brother has condemned terrorist acts and donates money to terrorism victims. “He just wants to be an ambassador for peace,” said Gordon, who lives in Princeton, N.J., and serves as Islam’s business manager.

Thought you would get a kick out of the Hamburg lineup:

The Sueddeutschezeitung in Munich reports that "Live Earth" Hamburg kicks off with Shakira, the Colombian singer, in the early afternoon followed by a bunch of big-name performers: Chris Cornell, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dogg, Jan Delay, Mia, Roger Cicero, Reamonn, Michael Mittermeier, Silbermond and Juli. (We'll accept that they're all big names.) Finally, then, the late addition, Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), will close the evening at around 11 p.m. But there's more!

In addition, 60 short films and 30 public service announcements will be shown during the breaks between bands. At about 8 p.m. Al Gore himself will be switched in from New York to ask the audience to sign a seven-point-declaration to pressure governments to ratify climate treaties.

Ach, mensch. Sixty films, 30 PSAs, high-minded Germans earnestly lecturing and lecturing and lecturing? Preachy imploring for a seven-point action plan on behalf of protocols of codicils of declarations?

No wonder they're giving away tickets.
