Anything but "Changes"... that song reeeeallly sucks.

"Wheels of Confusion" is probably my most favored.

(Sorry Ozzy, if you are reading this, but "Changes" is $hit and should have never been on your solo live album...)

Didnt Mustaine play host to a (D)im forum on MTV a few years back? Some past threads about him...

From Wilkipedia:MTV News invited Mustaine to cover the Democratic National Convention for them that summer.

No. He was asked after a public lecture what the penalty for blasphemy was under Islamic law. He never claimed Rushdie had blasphemed Islam.

During that public lecture he (Stevens aka Islam) was asked, "You don't think man deserves to die?" and replied, "Who? Salmon Rushdie? Yes, yes..." (Yusuf Islam on UK TV 1989 Discussing Salmon Rusdie)

Yeah, Dave’s always been a lib. His new album has an anti-UN theme. It’s like he had an epiphany about it.

I don’t find him as obnoxious as someone such as Madonna, though.

Thank you for that link.

The TV show is called “Hypotheticals”. Stevens appears as one of about a dozen panelists on the episode. The format involves a moderator asking panelists hypothetical questions regarding controversial topics.

When asked what he’d do if he saw Rushdie in a restaurant, Stevens says he might just go on eating his meal. He makes no mention of any other response.

When further asked if he has a duty to execute Rushdie, Stevens says “no not necessarily, unless we [Rushdie and Stevens] were in an Islamic State and I was ordered, say by a judge or the authorities, to carry out such an act, [then] yes, perhaps”

If you told me you thought someone deserves to die but that you wouldn’t kill him unless, say, you were ordered to do so by a judge, and even then you couldn’t say for sure whether you’d do it, and in the meantime you’ll ignore him if you cross paths, I wouldn’t think that makes you a terrorist.

Would you?

Thank you for that link.

You're welcome.

When asked what he’d do if he saw Rushdie in a restaurant, Stevens says he might just go on eating his meal. He makes no mention of any other response.

If you go back and listen again, Islam doesn't finish his original train of thought. I quote:

Islam: It depends upon my mood that evening. I may concentrate more on my meal or I may concentrate on... I can't answer that really clearly.

Host: You don't think that this man deserves to die?

Islam: Who? Salmon Rushdie? Yes, yes.

Host: And do you have a duty to be his executioner?

Islam: Ummm... Not necessarilly, unless we were in an islamic state and I was ordered to by the judge or by the authority to carry out such an act, perhaps, yes.

In islamic states, isn't an 'authority' also an imam or ayatollah? (The Pillars of the Mullahs' Rule)

When further asked if he has a duty to execute Rushdie, Stevens says “no not necessarily, unless we [Rushdie and Stevens] were in an Islamic State and I was ordered, say by a judge or the authorities, to carry out such an act, [then] yes, perhaps”

Not 'authorities', which implies government bodies, but 'authority', which can mean an individual such as an imam or ayatollah. (IMO, it sounds like he's dancing around the truth).

Islam didn't say he would 'ignore' him unless he was in more of mood to concentrate on his meal. And I never said, nor did I imply that he was a terrorist.

ContactMusic has an article that quotes James Hetfield refuting this ever happened but ContactMusic articles are “not welcome” at FR. Nothing else is on Google News yet.

And did it have pollution controls on it like they make us put on cars?

Cracks me up here in Atlanta when they warn of smog days and don’t drive if you can help it and then see all those jets taking off with big plumes of brown out the back end. Yeah, it’s all my fault with my car.
