WHAT the heck do we need IDs for? All the illegal has to do is open his mouth, and we know he’s illegal. Heck, IF he can’t speak English, HE’S ILLEGAL!!!! Doesn’t take a rocket scientist! Geeeesh!

I would think that 10 guys using the same name and Social Security number across America would set off bells at the IRS office.

You would think so but the IRS doesn't care. As long as the money keeps rolling in they turn a blind eye to the duplicates and never notify ICE. They also provide "Taxpayer ID Numbers" for people who don't/can't supply a valid Social Security number. They are useful for filing tax forms and opening bank accounts. Why any legal citizen would need one is open to debate, but there you have it; the IRS is complicit with the illegal immigrant in providing semi legal documentation.

Regards,
GtG

"...NOBODY talks about Mexico getting IT'S act together...."

Nobody except Fred Thompson. Excerpts from one of his Paul Harvey substitute commentator appearances:

" President Calderon doesn’t think much of our border policies. He criticizes our efforts to secure the border with things such as border fencing. He says that bottle necks at U.S. checkpoints hurt Mexican commerce and force his citizens to migrate illegally in order to make a living (and of course send money back to Mexico). He apparently thinks we should do nothing except make American citizens out of his constituents. .....

I think its time for a little plain talk to the leaders of Mexico. Something like:

"hey guys, you’re our friends and neighbors and we love you but it’s time you had a little dose of reality. A sovereign nation loses that status if it cannot secure its own borders and we are going to do whatever is necessary to do so, although our policies won’t be as harsh as yours are along your southern border. ...."

"My friends, it’s also time for a little introspection. ...you might want to consider your own left-of -center policies. For example, nationalized industries are not known for enhancing economic growth. Just a thought. But here’s something even more to the point that you might want to think about: What does it say about the leadership of a country when that country’s economy and politics are dependent upon the exportation of its own citizens?"

What we will have to start doing is fingerprinting EVERYONE for EVERY JOB, so that employers are sure who they are hiring. It would be expensive for the employer, but maybe the government could chip in to defray the cost. Then, if a person turns out to be an illegal, the authorities could be notified and the illegal exported. Also, by checking the fingerprints in the criminal databases, criminals could be identified and their sorry rear-ends could be put in prison. Does this make too much sense to be supported by our government??

EXCELLENT! Damn, I must admit I was a Duncan Hunter man 100% but this Thompson is changing my mind fast. What got me first into Thompson was that video he made answering that fat turd Michael Moore. NOBODY has ever challenged that POS except Thompson.

Of course it does. Today, employers all over the US are getting “discrepancy” letters from the Social Security Administration when the name doesn’t match a SSN, or there are payroll taxes being paid on the same SSN from different employers hundreds (or thousands) of miles apart, etc.

As I’ve been thumping the tub here on FR, the issue has to fixed with a mandatory background check done by the employer, and the employers must be given safe harbor against civil and criminal charges when/if they don’t hire someone who failed the SSN/name/eligibility background check prior to employment. As it stands today, an employer is at the mercy of document mills, because you can’t choose which forms of ID out of the several the government accepts on the I-9, you can’t fire an employee when you get the SSA’s discrepancy letter, etc.

Employers must be given the tools and the ability to say “You don’t check out. No job for you.” or “The government just sent me a letter saying there’s a problem with your SSN. You have two weeks to fix it. If you don’t, you’re fired.”

The problem with the SSA’s checks into this multiple-people-using-one-SSN issue is that it takes them years to send out a letter of discrepancy. Years. It needs to happen within two months of the discrepancy appearing in the payroll tax submissions.

It didn’t set off any bells there when over 100 aliens were found to be using the exact same SS number in Fort Pierce, Florida.

How were they caught?

Every frickin one used it to get on food stamps and state Medicare. Every one.

Made headlines in the local section.

The solution goes back 5000 years. Death penalty for perjury.

“ID theft should be a federal felony offense.”

Using a false SS# is ALREADY a federal felony — a new felony every time it is used:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1849240/posts

Except (occasionally) for those who sell or manufacture illegal SS cards, Illegal infiltrators who blatantly commit dozens of these (and other) Federal FELONIES are not prosecuted. Neither are the people who employ them.

Until that preposterous reality is fully addressed, AND corrected, no amnesty, increased border patrol, or thousand mile fence will ever be effective.

The total is now over 115 people and the kicker is that the number is that of a 10 year old girl.

"Investigators say more arrests are on the way. They also say employers need to do a better job of double checking the Social Security numbers they get from job applicants with the federal government."

Yeah.

...unless the illegal commits another crime...

Ahh, but that's where the flaw of this plan is. From what we read, these illegals commit a lot of crimes. And if the police can trace the documents back, then they can haul in some "masterminds."
