Senator's Number on Escort Service List
WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. David Vitter, R-La., apologized Monday night for "a very serious sin in my past" after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called "D.C. Madam."
Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.
"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in the statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there - with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

If I see this so called Senator preaching family values I’m going to throw up... way to go, thanks for giving the Rep party another black eye and the media lots more fodder to bash Reps with.

Probably, but we will never know that! They have been in DC for so long I doubt they need a ‘Madame’. They probably have their own private w*orehouse.

Dear Senator Vitter,
As one of the people who contributed to your campaign,
I really just want say that I don't care about any of this.
I think you're doing a fine job.
Nice that you've apologized, but don't let them make you their next target.

heck, I don’t mind when politicians come out and talk about their conservative family values I just don’t want them being hypocrites... like Newt with the impeachment of Clinton.

Not really. He ran as a generally conservative candidate, emphasising tax cuts and confirming Bush's judges, with his own particular issues like allowing drug importation from Canada. He doesn't run with the Tony Perkins crowd, but doesn't shy away from them either.

Of course, republicans just want to screw escorts... Democrats want to screw us all...

Why is it any of our business if he uses an escort service. There was a time when the press stayed the hell out of people’s personal lives. I hope Vitter doesn’t make the same mistake that Livingston made after they tried to pull this on him.

David Vitter - Louisiana
This far-right, family-values, three-term Congressman becomes the first Republican Senator elected in Louisiana since Reconstruction. As Vitter prepared to run for governor in 2002, the secretary of the Jefferson Parish Republican Party accused him of an 11-month affair with a prostitute. He denied the allegations but withdrew from the governor’s race due to marital problems.

He shouldn't. Livingston got hammered in the middle of the Clinton impeachment where Larry Flynt tried to get him on the "hypocrisy" card. Vitter isn't nearly as high profile, although the recent immigration battle did give him some ink.
This probably isn't going to come to a big surprise to some of us Louisianans, as this rumor has been floating around for some time, but it is disheartening.

I know who David Vitter is, I live about 120 miles east of New Orleans.
What I am saying is, I thought Livingston ran like a coward when challenged on his affair. He shoulda stayed in office. He hurt his district, and indeed the entire region, by stepping down.
And I don’t equate being anti-gambling with being pro-family. Many families in Biloxi owe their survival to the existence of gambling.

What bothers me is the stupidity.
If you're a high-profile person, wouldn't you have a third party - a trusted friend, for example - arrange this sort of deal?
Why would anyone call such a business with a phone that could be tie back to them?
