This is excellent, but I doubt that the Virginia government will assist in the matter. IIRC, due to a 1980s Supreme Court case, a public school cannot deny services to illegals. (Asinine, I know) Therefore, PWC will have to forego Federal funds. So they'll have to figure out how to fund the scholols on their own, or seek assistance from Richmond. Richmond is inhabited by a leftist Governor and the Republican Party of Virginia hasn't shown itself to be very ballsy about illegal immigration. In the last two state election cycles, the RPV has said that illegal immigration is a non-winning issue. Idiots.

I hope I'm wrong. And I wish Prince William County the best of luck. Nice to see my old county has some sense. (I write this from deep in South Massachusetts AKA Fairfax County.

Precisely what the Administration and its pro-amnesty collaborators were concerned about. They planned to give the tens of millions of lawbreakers U.S. citizenship before the local and state governments could do anything about it.

Correct you are. Always important to listen to what the enemy is saying. The Chamber of Commerce press release after the demise of the Amnesty bill gives it away.

Chamber Laments Failure of Immigration Reform

WASHINGTON, DC—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today expressed its disappointment over the failure of S. 1348, the “Secure Borders, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Reform Act of 2007” to move forward for debate.

“This issue is not going away.  The current system is clearly broken, and states are naturally reacting to the lack of action at the federal level with a patchwork of immigration laws and enforcement—exposing employers who must deal with a broken legal structure to unfair liability,”  said Bruce Josten, the Chamber’s executive vice president of government affairs.  “We need to address the United States’ currently dysfunctional immigration system. The status quo is clearly unacceptable.

“While the current bill had flaws, we were hopeful that many of those concerns could be ironed out in conference if the Senate had just taken the step of moving it forward. American citizens and American businesses need to have confidence that there is a clear practical plan in place to address the need for border security and the need for additional workers. They also need to be sure that this plan will be a consistent and fair national policy.  We will continue to work for sound legislation as the debate moves to the House.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.

Just a question...if a county weren’t supplying services to illegals how much money would it save and could it then survive without “federal” funds?

I don't understand on what Federal grounds laws like this could be overturned. Laws like this are really just common sense and provide equal protection for those here legally.

Here is what I just posted on another thread.

To: inquest
I like it but my argument against it is that this is clearly and strictly a prerogative and responsibility of the federal govt. I can see how states taking their own initiative against illegal immigration will give the federal govt a chance to duck the issue. And what about states, counties, and cities that actively work to aid and abett illegal immigration? Should they have the freedom to do so?

You got that wrong.

No, I didn't. But you misunderstood my post in a big way. I never said this bill will solve the nation's problem with illegals; I said, in essense, that the pro-amnesty types are (justifiably) concerned that the type of bill just passed in VA will become commonplace at the local/state level nationwide, and that the amnesty bill they've been trying to pass was a preventative measure. ...and a failed one, thankfully.

Many of these numbers are way low. California is off by at least 50% alone.

GOOD!

DAMMIT, BY GOLLY, COUNTY - BY - COUNTY if we have to do it, all 3000plus US COUNTIES if we have to, until this country is saved!

The FEDS will not do anything. This seems to be the only way. I hope it spreads like a wildfire, and illegals will either head home, or head to the 100 or so counties in the US who will welcome them with open arms and leave the other 2900 counties alone. Then we can sit back and watch those few counties go right down the tubes.

Hi John,

I hope you are keeping good notes, so that they might be condensed into a “How To Guide” for the many cities, and counties, that are going to want to follow in your footsteps. Just contract with a professional to write it for you, and get it out there; there should be an excellent finanacial return for all involved in its publication.

Excellent.

You took direct action!

I advise Freepers to also write Prince William County, Virginia and get a "How To Manual", and then approach County Supervisors across the land, in their own counties who are sympathetic. Maybe that Roy from NUMBERS USA can also morph this into a national campaign in all US counties. We can overturn this system of unchecked, massive illegal immigration from the bottom up, not just top down from D.C. In fact, it may be more effective that way. And that is the American way. It is how we were born as a nation, in the first place!!

It is now in the Hispanic press. And BOY! are they irked, it seems!!

I feel your pain and am grumpier than usual about it today. I went shopping — not only is everything written in Spanish and English, but it seemed like I was the only shopper who spoke English and didn’t have food stamps. It’s a real slap in the face to the Ellis Island immigrants who helped build this country.

I think the fact that one by one local government was taking matters into their own hands was what drove the failed bill. It seemed it came together awfully fast and was tried to be pushed through faster than anything I have ever seen before. We the little people are sick and tired of seeing our LIVES being turned upside down by the illegals. We the little people are having to deal with ruined schools, ruined neighborhoods, the closing of hospitals, the crime and the direct clash of culture.

Won't happen. It's not even clear that VA will allow this to go into effect. There are a patchwork of "amnesty" provisions around the country - ranging from looking in the other direction to active support.

We need to stop with the "amnesty" label and come up with a sound Fed'l policy, or we're going to wind up with chaos. (I should have said more chaos)
