“if the Governor’s position is not correct, then challenge the Governor’s assertion that he has been granted such authority”

Good suggestion.

I’d check the state constitution and see if the governor has legislative power, which is nearly always reserved to the legislature.

If there’s law writing power for the governor, what’s to prevent him from declaring himself dictator for life?

so glad I moved...made money on the waterfront property and am in heaven.

Too many New York, New Jersey and Michigan transplants..they brought their "government nipple" mentality with them. They couldn't just keep the fact that they came from sh#t holes, they had to spread the wealth. West Palm is like Camden, Newark or the Bronx.

Yep, we sit here on the Gulf, if we could sell (now impossible due to taxes and insurance), we’d be out of here. People are leaving here in droves.

This stuff is what CAUSES gas shortage problems, with the refineries having to make MORE boutique type fuels for areas with stricter emission requirements.

More crap on the way, courtesy of RINO Crist.

Executive orders do have a place in the operation of both state and federal governments. HOWEVER, they should all have a "SUNSET!"

I would propose that all executive orders remain in effect until the next legislative session. At that time they would expire unless the legislature vote, with a super majority to make them law.

Crist was elected to be governor, not a dictator!

SWITCH OFF: COAL FIRED PLANT WILL NOT BE BUILT

Disney's energy grid would have benefited

Scott Powers |

Sentinel Staff Writer

July 4, 2007

The plug has been pulled on a proposed coal-fired power plant that might have provided Walt Disney World with up to a quarter of its future electricity.

The consortium that planned to build the 800-megawatt Taylor Energy Center in Taylor County in North Florida announced Tuesday that it was suspending its efforts and will join Gov. Charlie Crist's alternative-energy program.

Project spokesman Mark McCain said growing public concern about global warming and its links to greenhouse-gas emissions from sources such as coal-fired plants influenced the decision. Environmentalists who opposed the Taylor plant largely because of those concerns hailed the decision Tuesday.

Left uncertain, however, was where Reedy Creek and the other utilities involved might get more power to meet future needs.

Snip...

Susan Glickman, a representative of two major opponents of the plant, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, said she thinks the Taylor plant is being scrapped because of Crist's commitment to cleaner sources of energy, and because of the increasing cost of coal.

"Florida is coming to terms with understanding that it is imperative that we reduce our greenhouse-gas emissions," Glickman said.

Same here....except 'governor' was one slot...(& only one) I left blank.

I was (& still am) quite upset this is the only option the RNC gave us, and I chose not to give him my vote!

Prescient, maybe?....

We're exhorted to vote for Fred Thompson on the ground he's "electable." We bought the same argument for Arnold Schwarzenegger in California. Conservatives have a habit of kicking good conservative candidates down because they think they can't win. They have NO right to complain when RINOs end up running the show. After all, "electability" mattered to them more than conservative principle.

We're exhorted to vote for Fred Thompson on the ground he's "electable."

It was RinoRudy who was being pushed as "electable" and "the only one who can beat Hillary."

Fred is being considered because he's perceived as the 2nd most conservative.

I think most Floridians are knee jerk environmentalists. I like to ask why it is that a cougar gets 25 square miles and I get 1000 square feet. Almost always the response is that I just don’t undertand about the cougars. There is a lot I don’t understand, but it is dogma that cannot be discussed. Just do what the judge says and keep quiet.

We’ve got to get involved as conservatives in the primary process. It’s handled by the “professionals” the media people and the fundraising people and campaign managers now and they always view the “moderate” as more electable than the conservative. Meanwhile the voters think they are voting for a conservative when they vote Republican. Forget the professionals — they give us Republicans that govern like Democrats which is the worst of all worlds for the conservative — failed liberal policies and blame for the failures falling on Republicans.

Between Crist and Martinez, I don’t know which one makes me feel like a bigger idiot for voting for them. They must both be counting on the dumocratic vote for reelection.
Charlie and Mel - whoever you oppoents are, they get my vote ( next election, I will be voting against candidates instead of for them).

The emissions from all the tree burning JUST LAST YEAR comes down to about ten years of everyone in the state driving an SUV.

He is indeed an idiot, and a RINO.

I'm thinking about creating a couple of  IBCs. One that sells carbon offsets. The other IBC will build environmentally friendly energy production plants -- solar, wind, hydro and maybe even nuclear. Paid for with the money from selling carbon offsets. The IBC will reinvest part of the profits that come from selling the clean electricity and the rest goes to the share holder -- me. Err, I mean the company I run. I think I better set up an offshore trust to protect my share of the profits.

I should probably consult with others already doing this. Since infamous Ken Lay of the bankrupt Enron corporation has passed away I supposes Al Gore is the next best person to talk with.
