Leadership is missing in Congress. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have concluded there's nothing America can do to vanquish Al Qaeda. They have committed the Democratic Party to defeat and in effect, have saw off the limb behind them. A turnaround in Iraq would be politically disastrous to the Democratic Party's election prospects next year. That is why they are battling to make sure Gen. Petraeus cannot report even modest gains by September 15th.

The media pulled this crap during Vietnam. Then they predicted this would be another Vietnam, a war they lost in America's living rooms, even as the troops kicked butt.
Now those jerks are out to fulfil their prophecy.
The Dems in Congress were singing the same tune, right in harmony with the media, and they are not only not going to lose political face over it (by selling out out troops and America), they are in a position to make sure it happens.
If we had the media they had during WWII, our guys would be done and home, and the Al-Qeida types would have packed it in. There would be no propaganda war to win.
