Pizza waitress gets $10,000 tip
Chicago Sun Times ^ | 07/13/07 | AP

ANGOLA, Ind. -- A waitress got more than a $5 tip for her friendly service. She also got a $10,000 gift.

Jessica Osborne was so overcome she cried so hard she could barely breathe. When she told a co-worker what had happened she called her a liar.

''I got that a lot,'' Osborne said.

The money came from a mother and her two sons who want to remain anonymous. The three were regular customers at the Pizza Hut in Angola and she remembered their order: two Mountain Dews, a cup of hot water for a bag of tea the woman would bring in, and a large Meat Lover's Stuffed Crust pizza.

Each time they would ask for Osborne to be their server and chat with her.

''They make your day better when they come in,'' she said.

The 20-year-old waitress told the family recently how she had started college twice before, but had to withdraw because she didn't have enough money. They came Sunday night and handed Osborne a check, folded in half, with money from an education fund they had set up after a death in the family.

''I said I didn't want to look at it because I thought I was going to cry,'' Osborne said.

It will be reported as a gift if she gets good tax advice. The limit just happens to be be $10,000.

So you saw "Shawshank Redemption", too? LOL

Remember back in 2000..when the Freepers chipped in to send a tip tot he waitress in the upstate NY diner whom Hilalry stiffed..

I remember and contributed as well. To this day I wander if anyone ever found out, even if just close approximate, how much the waitress received. Surely, someone must know.

Yeah, but I bet the IRS would have come looking for you if it had been broadcast all over the world that you had received a $10,000 tip, and your name was published.

When I worked the concession stands at the beach, a couple of women, tourists, asked me for just a cup of ice. So I gave it to them. They tipped me a whole dollar :-)

So I went out and bought a Porsche.

It would have been better for her if the people caught her after hours and told her it was a gift.

The bloodsucking vampires at the IRS don’t give a rip about anybody’s problems and they’d happily take what she needs.

She’d have been better off keeping quiet about it.

“you need to go back to your Bible and read up on Judge not lest ye be judged yourself. Check it out.”

True, we are not to judge a man’s heart, only God can do that.

But we can judge behavior, as long as it is done righteously.

The Bible isn’t saying don’t judge anything at all.

LOL!

It was the scene where Tim Robbins(Andy Dufresne)and some other inmates were on top of some building, roofing it or something, and he overhears a conversation between some guards about money one of them received.
He (the guard) was fussin' about how the IRS was going to get so much of it, and Dufresne interrupted the conversation, which almost got him shoved off the roof!
He then told the guard the same thing you posted earlier!

Au Contraire, the Sultan of Brunei, muslim head of state of the tiny south-east asian country, left a $170,000 tip to the waiting staff at a hotel in Cyprus.

Rich Arab Sheikhs from the gulf are notorious for their brazen display of wealth in europe as well.

How terribly un-islamic of him. He should have just threatened to cut off her head if she didn’t cover her hair.

the fact is, from a game theory standpoint the ideal Christian solution is the win /win while the ideal Islamic solution is I win one you lose one. In the end, the first is a better model for society than the second.

You know the rigid islamic principles apply mostly for the poor and middle class muslims.

In India or even in Arab world, rich muslims lead life bereft of any sense of morality or religion. They drink, womanize and gamble, in the discreet veils of their higher economic status.

Well to be fair, the Christian world has plenty of people who live like that too. I was talking about ideals, not how people live up to them.

There's nothing in the Bible that forbids judging wisely.

Funny, this topic came up elsewhere. Take that log out of your eye bud. Might I also suggest "let he that hath no sin cast the first stone?" We are all sinners. Any judgemnt is hypocritical when you think about.

This sounds like a lawyer quibbling with the spirit of what Jesus taught. He chastised those who were judgemental for being hypocrites on the face of it. Keep looking for the "technicality" that allows you to do what you want, but you aren't doing what Jesus taught.

Take that log out of your eye bud.

Mighty judgemental of you there, bud. LOL!

Might I also suggest "let he that hath no sin cast the first stone?"

I suggested executing no one.

We are all sinners.

Does that then require us to be silent on sin? No, it does not.

Any judgemnt is hypocritical when you think about.

You'd better look up the definition of both "judgement" and "hypocritcal" then.

I think you are also lacking on the concept of "thought."
