ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Good morning this rainy Monday! This morning someone asked me, "How do you like the lousy weather, Chaplain?" I thought a moment about the fact that my uniform was wet, my car had trouble starting, and about all those poor people stuck in the wall of traffic that inevitably occurs when 58 gets drenched. Then later I thought, how would we exist without the rain? which makes all life on our planet possible. I remembered the old prayer in my prayer book, a blessing to God for the gift of wind and rain.
There is an old story, a beautiful story, about a boy who came home famished after long hours of play with his friends. His mother served him some sandwiches which satisfied his hunger and caused him to thank his mom. She said, "Don't thank me, son I only prepared the food." So he went to the grocer to thank him for the bread. "Don't thank me, young man, I only sell the food." He walked over to the baker and thanked him. "Son, you're thanking the wrong person, I only bake the bread." Wondering whom to thank, the boy went to the farmer to thank him. "Thank you for the fine bread that I eat every day," he said. "Don't thank me, my friend, I only plant the seeds. The earth, sunshine, rain and wind make the wheat grow, not I.
By now the boy was tired and hungry so the farmer invited him to join his family for dinner. As they were seated around the table, each person took a piece of bread from the basket and said together: Praised be Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who brings bread out of the earth."
So, today, let's thank God for the sunny days and the rainy ones, too--as well as for the food He gives us. Each day is truly a blessing!

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.
Please guide the people of Free Republic to
The FR Canteen Post Office
So they can e-mail a service man or woman today.
AMEN
Some of these links are broken. Im using this post out of respect to Mr. Tonkin as he used this for his first post. My apologies, as Id change the broken links if I could.
WHEN YOU NEED TO LOOK AHEAD
Eternal God, we live in a day of instant replays. Only minutes after an exciting play has taken place in a game or event, it can be seen again. But I am aware that life cannot be replayed like that. I know that a bad day can never be taken back and a good day can never be erased. Help each of us to see that we cannot live on yesterdays. May we understand that each day must be lived with fresh vitality. May we see each day as a new gift from you to use for your glory. Amen.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!
Amazing Grace
by John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
.
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, .
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
.
When weve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
Weve no less days to sing Gods praise
Than when wed first begun.

Lev 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Deu 11:11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, [is] a land of hills and valleys, [and] drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
Deu 11:14 That I will give [you] the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

Giving God Our Best
READ: 1 Chronicles 22
The house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent. 1 Chronicles 22:5
We had rehearsed the song for several weeks, and it sounded good. But there was one tricky section that we just couldnt get right. We were ready to call it good enough. Our choir director seemed to agree. He too was weary of rehearsing the same few measures over and over.
Finally he said, Weve worked hard on this. Youre tired. Im tired. Were running short on time. And 99 percent of the people wont know whether or not we sing it right. As we started to put away our music, he continued, But were going to sing it right for the 1 percent who know the difference. We groaned as we reopened our music to the rumpled page.
On Sunday morning when we sang it right, few people knew. But that didnt matter. What really mattered was that we were singing from our heart for an audience of OneOne who deserves excellent praise.
King David wanted an exceedingly magnificent house built for the Lord (1 Chronicles 22:5). So before he died, he made sure his son Solomon had everything he needed to build the templean abundance of gold, silver, bronze, iron, timber, stone, and skilled craftsmen (vv.14-15).
Whatever we do, our audience of One deserves our very best.
O worship the King,
All glorious above,
And gratefully sing
His power and His love. Grant
When we worship God, only our best is good enough.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

If I might be so presumptious - I would like to ask for my friends, here, to say a little prayer in church today.
Last week, Dr. Bruce Kennedy was killed in a plane crash in Florida. His wife lost her husband, that day. Five weeks earlier, she lost her father. The pilot that also perished was returning to Iraq the next week.
That crash left five dead, including a 24 year old mother and her six year old son, and a four year old child. Another child is hospitalized with burns over 80-90% of his little body.
They were beautiful souls. If anyone could just say a little prayer for their families, friends, neighbors and loved ones, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Yorkie

Let me learn from you, Bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass by you in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow..One day, I shall dig my nails into the earth..

and want more than all the world, your return.
