Since you two were there for the speech, as was one Miss Hillary Rodham (if her story is to be believed as a Goldwater Youth volunteer), just think what you could have done for the future of America had you been able to catch her eye, keep her away from BJC and all that came to entail. It would have been a service beyond even getting Goldwater elected, I tell you!! Sacrifices needed to be made, extreme measures were needed, moderation was not the order of the day!!
All kidding aside, I thank you for being there to hold up the lantern for those of us who would follow later. I envy you for the experience.
She may have been in Youth for Goldwater, but I have not heard that she was at the convention. I was on a plane scheduled by NY Youth for Goldwater, that stopped in Chicago to pick up more attendees, and I don't remember any teenage girls getting on there. The vast majority of YFG did not attend the convention. In the fall there was an even larger Youth for Goldwater-Miller organization, with the added members mostly party regulars supporting the National ticket.
Yes those were great days!!
