“They let the gays in during the 70-80 and now get to sow what they reaped.”

I wish I could remember the article I read a few years ago that described how they admitted young boys (13-14) into all-boy seminary schools where they received a curriculum preparing them for priesthood or religious life.
This would have been in the 40’s, 50’s, and maybe 60’s.

They may not have been “gay” going in - but many had homosexual experiences due the all male environment coupled with awakening hormones.
I think some were told that masturbation and oral sex wasn’t really “sex” - so it was ok.
There were some priests preying on the boys - but they were also experimenting with each other.

When these kids came of age and ordained priests, the sexual revolution of the 60’s helped them rationalize their behavior and justify their treatment of young boys.

It would be interesting to see the stats on how many abusive priests came from this type of background.

“I don’t think anything will happen to Mahoney though...unless he gets recalled back to the Vatican.”

Maybe Cardinal Law could use an “assistant”.

“Dont forget the lawyers fees. Which will mean about 600 bucks to each plaintiff.”

exactly.
That’s the sad part.

Many of these people need money for counseling and rehab.
Will they even get enough for that after the lawyers skidaddle with the booty?

Is that the percentage? I’m not a Catholic so the cost doesn’t affect me.

They sow what they reaped with $$$$ which they have lots of. Now the ADULT suffers still from what perverts did to them when they were children. NO amount of money could ever erase that.

Cute, but ignorant comment.

Catholics archdioceses are funded entirely by parishioners none of whom can be demonstrated as having any control whatsoever over the problem.

The guilty should be made to pay to the limits of their possessions and personal wealth.
The parishioners are all innocent, and have been victimized twice: once by the pervert priests, then by the legal system and the pervert community, which made it all possible.
