I’m more convinced than ever that Osama bin Laden is no longer consuming oxygen, as another videotape is released by the As Sahab freakazoids: Bin Laden praises martyrdom in new video.
CAIRO, Egypt - A new al-Qaida videotape posted Sunday on a militant Web site featured a short, undated clip of a weary-looking Osama bin Laden praising martyrdom.The bin Laden clip, which lasted less than a minute, was part of a 40-minute video featuring purported al-Qaida fighters in Afghanistan paying tribute to fellow militants who have been killed in the country.
Bin Laden glorified those who die in the name of jihad, or holy war, saying even the Prophet Muhammad “had been wishing to be a martyr.”
“The happy (man) is the one that God has chosen him to be a martyr,” added bin Laden, who was shown outdoors wearing army fatigues and looking tired.
The authenticity of the video could not be verified, but it appeared on a Web site commonly used by Islamic militants and carried the logo of as-Sahab, al-Qaida’s media production wing. It was not immediately clear when the video of bin Laden was filmed.
Sorry to contradict Associated Press writer Omar Sinan, but it was immediately clear when the video was filmed—in October 2001.
It would be a huge propaganda blow if Al Qaeda could release a video showing Bin Laden indisputably alive. But repackaging six-year old videos (even if they fool the AP) is strong evidence that he’s Bin Dead. For quite a while.

Does this proof of nothing new from Osama for years do anything to his followers? Do they feel cheated at all, or do they now assume he is a “holy martyr” and revere him all the more? Wonder what will happen as the truth gets out.

I remain wondering whose funeral was photographed by a drone and presented as a story which stated that we couldn’t hit it because of muslim “sensitivities” about 1 1/2 or 2 yrs ago.....it looked like quite a shindig out in the boonies.....was it bin laden?
then there’s always at least a possibility he is held at gitmo, perhaps wearing klintorah’s undies as a blindfold.....

I don't know about that. Comparing their obsessive skepticism of anything published by OUR SIDE, with the automatic credibility they give to everything from the TERRORIST SIDE and I think we aren't seeing the action of sheep but of collaborators.
I’m more convinced than ever that Osama is dead, but I’m wondering when exactly. There are apparently authenticated Bin Laden tapes from 2003-04 that refer specifically to the Iraq war, so I don’t think he died at Tora Bora in 2001. But certainly between then and now he’s passed.

Mystery solved, thanks to Jim. I googled around based on the screencap he found and discovered this article at CBS from May 2002. Luckily they’re exceptionally good about archiving their video so you can watch a clip from that Bin Laden tape right in the sidebar at the link. Compare a still from that one……with a still from the clip released today, noting the sloping mountain on the left and the leaves overhead:

I think you’re right and perhaps that well attended funeral is more evidence pointing to that. Charismatic leaders DO NOT hide for years when their appearance can mean reenergizing their followers. Especially ones with long pointing fingers...
