Here’s what Daily Kos writer mcjoan has to say about it: Daily Kos: O’Reilly’s Big Scoop.

Bill O’Reilly has discovered that sometimes people say stupid things on the Internet. And he’s going to have a big story about it tonight, supposedly.

He’s decided to play David to what he imagines is a corporate Goliath, JetBlue, because they’re one of the sponsors of YearlyKos. This is undoubtedly happening on Murdoch’s orders: Markos led the way in getting the Democratic presidential candidates to boycott the Fox debate, and we’re going to be having a Democratic presidential candidates forum at YearlyKos.

So they ambushed JetBlue’s CEO outside of his apartment last week, demanding to know why he was sponsoring people who are mean. Meaning they cherrypicked the worst of the comments on Daily Kos, many which were probably from GOP trolls anyway, and found a couple of 9/11 conspiracy diaries and are trying to smear the whole of the lefty blogosphere with a handful of kooks who’ve been banned from the site for being, well, kooks. Speaking of which, I wonder how many more leads O’Reilly’s gotten on his big story of last week, the national threat of lesbian gangs?

This is a curious gambit by Fox. Do they really want to get into a corporate sponsor fight? Seems dangerous territory to tread for them. Because if they want to have that fight, we can have that fight.

Yes, it is dreadful. Fabrications, lies and slander.

Check out the ad where they put the pitcture of the little girl and say that if we get out of Iraq, we could pay for her insurance and all the rest. Pure emotions and no reason - economic or otherwise.

KOS is the most dispicable place I have seen in Internet politics. They showed pictures of burned Anerican bodies hanging from the bridges in Falujah and celebrated their deaths. It is the single most revolting thing I have ever seen in my life, and frankly anyone that sponsors their event will never get my business - ever.

It is horrid. These are the worst of the worst, and it would be hard to cherry pick since the hatred is so thick. Freepers aren’t anywhere near to what Kos or Huffington is, because of the place they come from. Those that are vile are not really Freepers, I suspect. They are masquerading as right wingers. The worst I’ve experienced is mean spirited sarcasm.

JetBlue’s response (via e-mail):

JetBlue is pleased to sponsor the YearlyKos Convention. This is the largest gathering of bloggers and online communicators, a community of growing importance to any company. By sponsoring the convention, JetBlue does not endorse the diversity of personal views represented at the gathering. Our sponsorship simply makes it easier to get people to Chicago for the event.... Simply put, it’s none of our business why you travel - we just want you to choose JetBlue for our friendly service and comfy seats, and we want you to talk about your experience.

******

Would Jet Blue sponsor a convention for David Duke or the KKK and claim the same thing?

Another ‘sponsor’ of the loony left’s ‘convention’ of moonbats aka Daily Kos.

‘Robert Greenwald’s Brave New Films is a co-sponsor. Greenwald directed the documentary Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism.’

Which turned out the be a complete lie done ala the Michael Moore film model.

It is as bad. I don’t go there often and they have cleaned up their act some. (As much as a liberal can) I don’t fly Jetblue because of its very public problems in the past. I fly too much to deal with the drama they have been experiencing no matter how low their rates are. My opinion has been for some time that companies do themselves a disservice by funding events and questionable groups. There is no reason for companies like Kraft to fund the Gay Games for example. It is stupid.

The same goes for Ford and others that seem not to understand who the majority of their customers are and it isn’t even about that. The real issue is that it is a bad marketing decision to do anything that will drive away existing loyal customers and lock out potential customers. Any publicity is not good publicity. A smart company wants to appeal to the widest possible profitable customer base. It doesn’t jettison the core customer base so it can marginalize itself as the Hillary Clinton of corporations.

The good thing to come out of this is now all radical lefties will fly Jetblue so I don’t have to hear them going on and on about Global warming and Al Gore.

Hillary Clinton:

Furthermore, I helped forge a partnership between Jet Blue Airways, New York Apple Association and Empire State Apples that directly benefited New York apple growers. JetBlue Airways offered passengers and crewmembers a New York State apple when they boarded a JetBlue plane at the John F. Kennedy International Airport. In a single month JetBlue purchased 25,000 New York apples.

Jet Blue had a good rep and good word of mouth for a while, but most of that goodwill have been squandered in the last 8+ months or so with some very public horror stories.

I have flown them a few times and was very pleased, but the horror stories never really stopped and haven;t used them lately. If they are in bed with a shrill partisan site Daily Kos, that’s just inviting more bad will in a time when they should be trying very hard to build up their goodwill again.

I’ll stick with Continental for now.

Maybe we need to have JetBlue put their money where their mouth is:

******

Thank you for contacting JetBlue with your comment.

To clarify, JetBlue is not sponsoring the popular DailyKos web site. JetBlue donated ten tickets to the YearlyKos Convention, a gathering of 1500 bloggers and prominent American politicians that includes Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, to expand our reach in the online world and to encourage customers to take advantage of our new service to Chicago, where the convention is being held. This is one of the largest gathering of bloggers and online communicators, a community of growing importance to any company. Our donation of a handful of tickets for event organizers is quite different than an endorsement. We show FOX News as one of the 36 channels of DirecTV programming on our planes, but by doing so we do not endorse their views, just as we do not endorse the views of individuals exercising their freedom of speech online. We would be equally pleased to sponsor a seminar or convention hosted by FOX News should that opportunity arise, and in fact, we have co-sponsored events with FOX News.

JetBlue does not subscribe to any specific set of political beliefs and certainly does not endorse the wide range of views expressed by the participants of this convention. We treat our customers and crewmembers with dignity and respect, regardless of political viewpoints, and we encourage them to draw their own conclusions with regard to politics. Simply put, it’s none of our business why you travel – we just want you to choose JetBlue for our friendly service and comfy seats.

Regards,

JetBlue Airways

The suit, filed Monday, follows JetBlue’s acknowledgment last week that, in violation of its own privacy policy, it had given information from about 5 million passenger records to Torch Concepts of Huntsville, Ala. JetBlue and the Radical Left

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,289573,00.html

WATTERS: Good morning. Do you mind if we ask you a few questions?

BARGER: Regarding?

WATTERS: On the DailyKos Web site, it says attacks against coalition forces in Iraq are legitimate. Does JetBlue subscribe to that kind of thinking?

BARGER: There’s really, you know, politics and our business. It’s really not something that we mix.

WATTERS: What about the pope is a primate? Do you agree with that kind of thinking?

BARGER: Same. I mean, it’s — from the standpoint of running our business, that’s what we do from an airline perspective. So there’s really not alignment along those lines. I appreciate your interest.

WATTERS: Do you think you’re giving legitimacy to this kind of thinking? I mean, they’re saying the world may be better off without Tony Snow when Tony Snow had a cancer relapse.

BARGER: It’s — I’m really not going to mix politics from the standpoint of running our business.

WATTERS: And aren’t you guys kind of mixing politics by, you know, sponsoring this convention?

BARGER: It’s — it’s — I can see where you’re trying to go with it, but it’s — I’m just not going to, you know, to respond to that here at this point and time.

WATTERS: Don’t you think your sponsorship is kind of attached endorsement to this kind of thinking?

BARGER: I think just the ability to leave my apartment and do that freely and go to work is really what I’m trying to do. And along those lines, I think the people can draw their own conclusion. We’re running our business. And from the perspective of politics, there’s not alignment. So thanks very much.

WATTERS: Thank you. I mean, do you think that your JetBlue customers want to know that you’re kind of subscribing to the belief that Iran has the right to attack Israel? I mean, these are the kind of things they’re saying on this Web site.

BARGER: I’ll just close by saying this: I think our customers are — I’ll treat them with dignity and respect. They’re very smart. They’ll draw their own conclusion, whether it’s watching your new show, whether it’s watching our in-flight television. They’re pretty smart people. They’ll draw their own conclusion.
