I’m not so sure. Fears of our parents /grand parents can trickle down. My grandmother went thru the depression. I was very close to her. I’m not real tight with my money but I do “ collect food” :’) A few other things rubbed off too. Normally I would say that it’s no one’s fault and we just live with it but in this circumstance, horrible things happened and I doubt the memories and fears died with their parents.

This is nonesense. Its like talking about modern whites being responsible for slavery or segregation.
Maybe we should be paying the Japanese back for Hieroshima and Nagasaki.
A person can only be held responsible for his own actions and even the current German government hsa no connections with the Hitler regime.
