The grassroots free-market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today released a list of Senate earmarks slated to be included in the Fiscal Year 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill.
The 1,016 earmarks total nearly $392 million, and include millions for questionable projects such as $1 million in tax dollars for a museum dedicated to recreating the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival experience and $250,000 to help fund the Polynesian Voyaging Society, which makes and sails ancient canoes from Hawaii to Japan.
AFP compiled the earmarks scattered throughout the Senate Appropriations Committee Report 110-107 into a convenient, searchable Microsoft Excel format. Earmarks can be sorted by member, state, or amount. Download the chart here.
Highlights of the earmark list include:
$1 million for the Museum at Bethel Woods, which is dedicated to recreating the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival experience and will feature An interpretation of the 1969 Woodstock Music & Arts Fair exhibit in 2008, according to the museums website. The earmark is at the request of New York Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles Schumer

Hillary Clinton is running on her resume as Senator and Co-President.
Just what has she done as a Senator? What important legislation has she sponsored in the Senate in her 6 1/2 years?
PORK, PORK, and MORE PORK!

Woodstock was good. I was there. I was 18 years old. It was good. I did drugs then, and the music was great. I never want to revisit it again.
I seriously doubt that schumer or clinton (rodham?) were there.
It was a once in a lifetime experience to be a part of. I am a musician and truly enjoyed all the talent.
$1,000,000.00 for this baloney is ludicrous.
I hope I have structured my reply simply enough for anyone to understand.

I know that $1,000,000 sounds like lots of money, but in the construction of institutional buildings such as museums, it won’t even make a 5,000 square foot single level structure that the public would be allowed into. I want to know where the extra $9,000,000 is coming from???

Like wow man... I can hardly wait for construction to begin.
Hey... why not put Tommy Chong in charge of it? That alone would be worth the price of admission.

$1M for mud and filled-to-the-brim port-o-sans?
I’d go back only if that last act was still around.

That this hairy moron, Bill Clinton, was actually nicknaamed “Elvis” is disgusting - Elvis served his country in uniform. Clinton served Lewinsky unclothed.
If alive today, Elvis would be supporting our troops - I have no doubt.

This is why I have no faith in the Federal government. I’m supposed by pay, via taxes, to get these self-serving idiots in Congress re-elected.

How about a museaum at Altamont, where we can watch clips of Mick Jagger acting like a nancy boy while the Hell's Angels stomp the sh-t out of somebody.
Even better, Altamont had Marty Balin (!) from Jefferson Airplance getting into a fight with one of the Angels.
