McGyver could turn that stuff into a small electric generator.

I just bought a Jack Bauer bag and plan to carry my own aircraft carrier...just in case.

After reading some of these lists, you might as well stay home and put a 50 cal. on the roof. Sand bags of course.

"After reading some of these lists, you might as well stay home and put a 50 cal. on the roof. Sand bags of course."

About 15 years ago when I was building my retirement home, I was pointing out to my brother (a building contractor himself) all the security concious features I was building into the house...he said, "I can mount some 20 cal retractable guns on the roof without too much trouble." LOL.

The tourniquets are rubber tubing and available at any good size medical house. Cut to desired length. I remember them coming in six foot lengths. Two ought to do you. Betadine and Blood Stop as well as the rest of my MedKit is stuck into an old small canvas pouch that Pan Am used to give their first class passengers from Miami to Rio in the early 60’s. Once upon a time I dated a Stew(as they were known at that time)and she gave it to me; among other things.(ALL happy)
I assembled the goodies from various sources, including but not limited to my wife’s work kit(She being a now happily retired RN)some stuff I had at work, and commercial Police/Fire/EMT sources. Nothing sold as a complete kit. What I have seen of complete kits they have what you dont want or need and they are about 20X over priced. Betadine at Albertson’s (I don't know if they are all over. It’s a supermarket) The field trauma kit was from a Brit source I found on the net. Small, but has handle and scalpel blades, suture, needles, pickups, ring cutter, finger splints and antibiotic powder(that I dumped as being too old)
The tarp is a good idea and I forgot that I have a couple in the trunk left over from Wilma. An axe and buck saw are in there too, along with a wedge and nine lb sledge with a short handle. I really ought to put that small garden spade in there as well. I’m sure as hell NOT doing any gardening with it.

I want a Jack Bauer bag, sure... but what I really want is a goodie drawer in my rig like they've got in the back of them CTU SUVs.

Your list just said “Man” all over it.

OK. That is what I am. last time I peeked.
I was hoping my kit said “Survivor” all over it.

Being a woman does not mean one has to cclose one’s eyes and hope; not having prepared.

My dad used to love that show, until he made a plane out of bamboo shoots or something.

I have a Camelbak ST5 on back order.
Not too big and in has a 100 oz water bladder built in along with a decent size carry section without having to hump a footlocker.
Runs roughly $180 or so.
I see so many packs around but the Camelbak and the Maxpedtion Fatboys or Jumbos are the mose practical and low profile for carrying around.
Check out Camelbak, com for a bunch of good stuff. (warning they ARE pricey)

I’d like to see them get my cat into a pillow case. My money would be on my cat and I am not normally a betting woman.

I’m prepared in a female way.

We live where it’s HIGHLY unlikely that we’ll have to move, way out in the country in a small town.

I am somewhat domestic and do my own sewing, gardening, and canning. We have sources for popular produce, like apples, corn, and other staples, that I can put up.

I do have emergency kinds of supplies, also, but would have to pull them together to get out, but at least if we can stay put, we’re in no danger of starving or freezing.

The entire purpose for this excerise (at least for me)is in the event of a major incident; either because of nature(i.e., Hurricanes, etc. or a Dirty Bomb type of event)or some nutjob Raghead who believes he will get lucky, with the help of God. (Good dental hygine and a little Irish Spring will get them closer to virgins than Semtex. I reside somewhat near (12 miles) the deepest salt water port in the nation which is replete with fuel tanks and refining plants. and tankers offloading their products.

I need to maintain a stance that will allow me to keep viable for a week to two weeks, until what is called control can be achieved by the local authorities, who are as competent as any political subdivision anywhere. THAT is the scary part. I prefer NOT to depend on them for my immediate survival. The last thing I want is the wordy but incompetent Geraldo, in all of his splendor and Delicate Crybaby Shepard Smith blubbering about how the poor folks cannot get water, snacks or their dry cleaning. Or worse some big boobed blonde with nothing between the headsets making comments and pronouncing things incorrectly.

The worst we are likely to get weather wise is snow or an ice storm, so that’s not an issue.

We are now a safe distance from the nuke plant with hills between it and us, additionally.

There’s nothing besides the nuke plant for terrorists to go after, so unless a terrorist would have to hit us by accident, so we’re OK that way, too.

I can certainly see your concern. I’ve watched the hurricane debacles on the news and just shake my head in disbelief. Poor people can’t get *FREE* bottled water as they are sitting in line at a gas station with their SUV running and the air conditioning on. Whatever happened to being prepared? What idiots, all. (Not you obviously)

Wonder where the headline came from. The word “must” doesn’t appear anywhere in the actual story.

The pillowcase has yet to be invented that could hold the Ferocious Feline Bebop Trio.

Let alone Bacon and Hap’s SEVEN cats.
