Oh, right, I would NEVER buy organic from China. But I will not buy food from China anyway, nor toothpaste.

If I can’t trust my organic garlic powder from the local SDA health food store, than who can I trust???

Don't trust Christopher Ranch chopped garlic (in the jar). It's from China.

I avoid Organic, esp. from China. Even US organic.
Remember the green onions, spinach?
While I don't think either product was labeled 'Organic', I think organic produce would be even more likely to be contaminated.

We studied night soil. Organic as it comes. And I bet those rats that suddenly disappeared last week are in the food chain too.

Let's see, out in a distant field somewhere in China growing organic produce when <- BAM ->, you just *have* to go for a #1 and a #2.

"Organic produce" from China suddenly has a whole new meaning for me.

LOL!! You added a visual that I didn't really want to see. ;o) God only knows how much of that stuff we've already eaten. What got me was the article that said they were growing produce in raw sewage. Big barf! I had NO idea that we were getting ANY food products from China!

LOL. I grew up eating corn from my grandmother’s farm, so to me it ain’t really fresh corn unless every 4th ear I shuck has a fat, happy green worm smiling up at me. They always picked the best ones, too. :-)

When I was in school 60 years ago they has picturesa of the coolies carrying their “honey buckets” on a poll over their shoulders moving their human poop to the fields for fertilizer in text books.

They probably don’t have those in text books today, it wouldn’t be PC!

IF I NEVER eat another piece of food for China, it will be too soon for me.

Hey, if it’s grown in organic poop, it’s organic!

I bought green onions the other day that were from Mexico. What do we produce here anymore? I mean it’s summertime, I should be able to get American green onions, right?

Right---grow your own instead of eating e-coli ridden Mexican stuff. I grow mine in 5 gallon buckets on the front porch.

Our local Walmart is just about to open an expanded Supercenter with the groceries section, as soon as it does I am going to find as much as possible all the foods being sold as NOT from the USA.
I can related to Chilean oranges in the winter but there has got to be more information up front on the actual country of origin of other food items like canned food.

Basically anything from China I treat as a product of sceptical and suspicious value.

I think everything here is shifting to corn production.

The free market is beautiful. Without the government’s help, the US population has determined that food from China is not trustworthy. Therefore, they have stopped buying Chinese food products. China failed completely to regulate itself, therefore the market will regulate it.

The Chinese hung their food inspector the other day. Talk about swift justice (?).

I don’t think Americans will buy Chinese foods for quite a while. China will have to prove that their food is safe rather than have us assume it is.

I will not buy any food products from China until they can prove it is safe, which is very hard to do.

The Chinese screwed themselves in more ways than one. They are screwed for a very long time. They will have a very very hard time fixing their problem, because most of their country is polluted. The effort required to fix this is enormous.

Good. They deserve what they get.

"We need “country of origin” labeling now."

That starts next year, doesn't it? You can bet your bippy, I will not buy any food coming out of China. It is simply amazing that we have let them push our producers out of busness for a few lousy bucks.
