Unless there is a specific reason for an annual colonoscopy it is done every 5 to 10 years. Personally I think 10 years is too long for a repeat test..My spouse had sigmoidoscopy and was clear...then 5 years later when he got the colonoscopy he had two tiny polyps..both benign but hay they were there. I realize doctors do say they take a long time to grow and be problematic.
So like those of us who have had them and can testify to the fact that they are not to be feared...those of you 50+, or family history of cancer or other inflammatory conditions...get busy, call your doctor and take care of business when the success rates are in your favor. The peace of mind is worth it...and if you saw my earlier post..the prep, at least for me, was not a problem at all. Remember, this test could SAVE YOUR LIFE!

Thanks for testifying. It’s expensive and the prep is really yukky, but it is the only accurate test for colon cancer while it is curable.

That’s funny ... Liberal humor, yes ... but still funny.
I had to drink 2 64 ounce bottles of Gatorade (No Red or Purple,) two 4 oz bottles of some awful tasting soda stuff. two pills they prescibed. Four dulcolax pills and lots of water over about 20 hours. That and the hunger were the worst part. Oh yeah, no seeds, nuts or popcorn for three days prior.
