Reid: Pull Troops or We Won’t Pay Them
TownHall.com ^ | 20 July 2007 | Amanda Carpenter

Posted on 07/21/2007 7:57:46 AM PDT by txradioguy

If Majority Leader Harry Reid can’t start pulling troops out of Iraq, he doesn’t want to start paying them any more either.

After an amendment to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq within 120 days failed to receive the 60 votes needed to proceed, Reid set the entire defense authorization bill aside. By doing so, he shelved a 3.5 percent pay raise for all uniformed service personnel, $4 billion in equipment upgrades and a new program to treat traumatic brain injuries.

To increase pressure on Republicans to support the measure, sponsored by Sen. Carl Levin (D.-Mich.) and Sen. Jack Reed (D.-R.I.), Reid threw the Senate into an all night session on Tuesday evening that lasted through Wednesday morning. Levin-Reid fell eight votes short, 52-47.

“There are two things that I want to accomplish,” Reid told reporters immediately after the amendment vote. “One is to pass a defense authorization bill, but with a deadline dealing with Iraq. Once we put that together, we'll move forward on it.”

I guess that Sen. Reid somehow thinks this will GAIN support for leaving Iraq.

It's a nightmare. Abandon our troops, snatch defeat from victory. How can people be so stupid to support these rats?

If the Republicans can’t use this issue to show the American People how evil the Democrats are, then the old saying is really true:

There are two parties in America, the evil party and the stupid party.

He should be questioned on why he wants defeat so badly. Is he just stupid, naive or is he bought and paid for....

He is doing more damage to the US than the enemy. I can’t believe he is still allowed to act in this way. 2010 is so far away. How in the world did he get re-elected.

Reid: Pull Troops or We Won’t Pay Them

do the dhue: Pay the Troops or Won't Pay Congress

Ho do you like them deadlines?

If the American people do not recognize the detriment that this Congress is causing our National Security and other interests, then I will lose all faith in the people.

We must remove the traitors in this Congress. I really don't want to wait until 2008 to start. I want to start impeaching the demorats and RINOs on Capital Hill right now.

I am sick of the traitors already. And if they don't like being called traitors, they shouldn't give me a reason to do so.

REMOVE REID & PELOSER PERMENTLY!!

By doing so, he

shelved a 3.5 percent pay raise for all uniformed service personnel
Whatever, that's fine. Nobody in the military expects to get rich

$4 billion in equipment upgrades
Um... those equipment upgrades allow soldiers to Up-armor their vehicles and otherwise improve what they have to increase survivability. Oh wait, I forgot Harry Reid doesn't want soldiers to survive deployments

and a new program to treat traumatic brain injuries.
This for me is a major issue. TBI alters your brain in major ways, sending the sufferer into mood swings and he won't ever be the same again. TBI greatly increases likelyhood of suicide.

On e of the greatest liabilities with many “name” politicians is that they are so well off-or see their office as a means to wealth...that their conduct and actions betray the interests of the rest of us who NEED the rights and protections of the US Constitution to afford ourselves and our families opportunity in this world. GWB in no way shape of form NEEDS the US constitution to be sure of his and his families’ opportunity in the world. This is a very “salable” position for any politician running for office.

Excuse me - I must have missed that part in my Bible where it says:

“Reid, They name be God.”

Where does it give one person, even Reid, the power to solely decide which bills will or will not be voted on?

That makes him a dictator: My way or none.

I’m confused - aside from being furious.

Time to crash their sites again= Email/FAX/phone.
It won’t make a Rats rump to the King Rats Rump, but others, looking to be reelected, will get nervous (they already got a 5 to 1 AGAINST calls/emails ad FAXes re the hate crimes bill they tried to railroad through with the DOD bill...

Time to make a big noise again....

Reid, Dems, refuse to give troops equipment upgrades and medical treatments...holding our troops political hostage

I hope voters don't forget this. What is wrong with the people of Nevada? They are letting a traitor represent them. Shame on the people of Nevada.

Domestic traitors pose a much greater threat to this country

I've heard that directly from our troops in the field - it's demoralizing and disheartening to them - and they are wondering why they aren't hearing a bigger noise from US

Time to start making that big noise -

call/email/FAX all media outlets. They have a formula: after X amount of emails/calls and FAXes - they WILL cover a story ...knowing that with that much interest, it will get covered by others

SO??

are we going to make a big noise? If we're not part of the solution, we're part of the problem

If we let the dictators get away with this, we are complicit with them - sins of omission.

Or are we 'too busy" today....???

Who's got the list of the media??? and send the same to everyone listed in the senate.

Ready.

Set

GO!

great post!

We all need to copy/paste this quote and send it - with no other comment - to every libRAt and Rhino in the Senate - NOW, like in TODAY.

Just send the quote. They wont want to recognize themselves in it, but deep down, they will - and they will know just what we think of them.

As for US: Lincoln also said:

"He has the right to criticize who has he heart to help"

It's nice to commiserate in here with one another - but if we stop there, we are no better than Reid, et al.

This reminds me of what Steyn said about Kerry during the last Presidential election:

RE:John Kerry ''His vote against the first Gulf War was, he says, a sign of his support for the first Gulf War. Whereas his vote in favor of the Iraq war was a sign of his opposition to the Iraq war. And his vote against funding America's troops in Iraq is a sign of his support for America's men and women in uniform. On the same principle, I think the best way voters this November can demonstrate their support for John Kerry is by voting against him.'' -Mark Steyn
