University Expected to Fire Controversial Professor Today By Susan Jones CNSNews.com Senior Editor July 24, 2007

(CNSNews.com) - Ward Churchill's own lawyer expects the tenured University of Colorado professor to be fired on Tuesday. "Ward Churchill will be fired, and Wednesday, I'll be filing a lawsuit" over free-speech rights," the Denver Post quoted attorney David Lane as saying.

The university's governing board plans to hold a closed session on the Boulder campus today, and a decision on Churchill is expected in the middle of the afternoon.

According to the Denver Post, Churchill's supporters are planning to show their support at an afternoon rally. Churchill and his attorney will address the crowd when the decision comes down, press reports said.

A faculty panel recommended that Churchill be punished, but not fired. However, in a May 25 letter to the Board of Regents, CU President Hank Brown recommended that Churchill be dismissed for "conduct which falls below the minimum standards of professional integrity."

Churchill drew attention to himself by writing an essay questioning the innocence of those who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11. He described the victims as "technocrats" and "little Eichmanns" (Nazis).

Amid the uproar over the insult, the university began investigating Churchill's academic work. A panel eventually concluded that he had plagiarized, fabricated and falsified some of his research and writings.

Now there’s swift justice. They did it in under ten years.

This guy is a fraud; his degrees are faked and his “works” plagiarized. He deserves to be sacked, not for the garbage he spouts, but for being a charlatan.

Not holding my breath here. I’ll believe it when I see it. The board’s original recommendation was not to fire this creep. Why should they change their minds now?

I’ll believe it when I see it. This moron has more lives than a dozen cats. He should have been fired his very first day on the job.

I agree...I’ll believe it when I see it. They don’t want the ACLU and other lawsuits to contend with. What a farce.

Oh Happy Day! Let his lawyer sue - in then end he's being fired for bogus academic credentials, not because of his vile speech.

Just how wacky does one have to be to be a "Ward Churchill supporter"?

Should have happened a long time ago. Even though the academics were not incensed by his 9-11 comments, they should have tared and feathered him for his fraudulent academic record and outright plagiarism.

"Ward Churchill will be fired, and Wednesday, I'll be filing a lawsuit" over free-speech rights,"

I don't recall anything about "free speech" including forgery, plagiarism, fraud and lying on your job application........

And this is only about the 50th article I’ve read over the past year that says he’s going to be fired “tomorrow” or “today.”

You are confused. The Privilege & Tenure Committee recommended that Churchill be suspended and demoted, not fired. Hank Brown has recommended that he be fired. Today’s decision will be rendered by the Governing Board. Two separate entities.

Who is paying his legal fees? I’m sure the cheap so-and-so has some left wing outfit springing to his defense.

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth in moonbat lairs from Berkeley to Peshawar, but the rest of us can celebrate a well-deserved boot to this charlatan’s backside.

You must first assert (not believe) that plagiarism by a socialist professor is "protected speech".

That's consistent with the idea that theft by a socialist dictator is "protected appropriation".
