Cheese, having a lot of protein, contains a lot of nitrogen and therefore resembles explosives to some detectors. Though the story seems funny at face value, it is qctually quite disturbing.

For example: We only know about the cheese bombs that were caught. If an airport consistently missed cheese bombs, a real bomber could follow - maybe even be waiting just outside of the screening area to see if his compatriot succeeded in getting through, before stepping in line to be screened himself.

Thanks for the input. It had never occurred to me that there was any chemical similarity between cheese and explosives.

Considering I live on a flight path, just a few miles from one of the airports listed in the story, I’ll stop joking about it.

I agree; it is disturbing.

It certainly seems that they still are quite enamored with airplane plots. I am sure Allah/Satan gives them "high marks" for persistence.
