I enjoy tangerines and I’m not giving them up!! But I will be happy to give up the New York Times (just kidding, never read the rag), which should be scaled back to only local delivery so that they do not waste any more precious energy transporting it around the country. How’s that for a new campaign: pressure all lib publications to cut back on their distribution in order to save energy and help slow “climate change”.......

“I live in North Carolina. I’ll probably never eat a tangerine again,” she said, speaking of a time when the fruit is reaches the price that it “needs” to be.
So fruit prices should be high to save the planet? Deny poor children foods rich in vitamin C?
Elizabeth Edwards Antoinette: “Let them eat chips”.
To: DogByte6RER
Yeah, let’s reverse centuries of the civilizing influence of trade. Because the Stone Age was so much better.
To: DogByte6RER
The Edwards live in perhaps the largest private home in North Carolina, managed a sub-prime exploiting multi-billion hedge fund "to study poverty," flit around in luxurious private jets, drive a fleet of low MPG armored SUVs, and are a couple of notorious crooked trial lawyers.
The honesty of any word of such professional liars? zero. nada. goose-egg. zilch.
Delicious Florida tangerine, anyone?

If this becomes popular, we better subsidize tangerine growers. I doubt if they can stay afloat if they only sell locally.

Her wife, Breck Girl, flew to the debates yesterday in a private jet. Recently, both Edwards built a new, mega, fossil fuel-consuming palace whose energy consumption is probably equal to a thousand of our homes.
Hypocrisy - thy name is John and Elizabeth Edwards.

This is tricky.
What percentage of the market would have to avoid tangerines and Brussel Sprouts to maintain supply at a lower cost?
FWIW, I literally just finished a package of the Bird's Eye μ-wave bag of Brussel Sprouts.
However, in the spirit of things, I will give up turnips.
To: DogByte6RER
Now I know, for a fact, that both Edwards’ are total, drooling, blithering idiots.
What’s even scarier is that these two seek the White House. Unf**king-believable.

Paraphrasing George Costanza, to Nakahoma Broadcasting Corporation executives: "You've apparently forgotten what it's like to have no tangerines."
NBC Executive: "Again with the tangerines!"

Measuring a summers day,
I only finds it slips away to grey,
The hours, they bring me pain.
Tangerine, tangerine,
Living reflection from a dream;
I was her love, she was my queen,
And now a thousand years between.
Thinking how it used to be,
Does she still remember times like these?
To think of us again?
And I do.

the importance of relying on locally-grown fruit Lived in Cali and now in DC. I can tell you that the locally grown fruit causes dispepsia. The local nuts are worse, Q.E.D., Eliza.
To: DogByte6RER
She does not need to give them up. She can just fly to where they are local.
I’m hearing more and more about Food Miles and Buy Local.
The Greens want us all on village farms with limited transportation and restricted communications (to control “appropriate technology development”). Buy Local is part of that dream.

"We've been moving back to 'buy local,'" Mrs. Edwards said, outlining a trade policy that "acknowledges the carbon footprint" of transporting fruit. Hey, Betty Eddie, does that mean you think the residents of, say, NYC should be required to live on what they grow locally? What exactly is NYC's biggest crop?

Actually, make mine a satsuma tangerine (more commonly known as a mandarin). Skin literally falls off the fruit, but they’re kind of expensive and typically only available around Christmas.
And they’re typically from China and Japan, which means LOTS of greenhouse gasses are emitted to get them to me!
