A Minneapolis man was sentenced to 48 months in prison in connection with a fatal crash in Inver Grove Heights that happened last February.
Antonio Alatorre-Garcia, of Minneapolis, had been charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
The car crash happened on Feb. 17 when a Ford Explorer identified as Alatorre-Garcia's crossed from southbound Highway 52 into northbound lanes.
Alatorre-Garcia hit a Toyota Rav-4 head-on, killing driver Mark Berkeland, 56, of Kenyon, Minn.
According to Police, Alatorre-Garcia did not speak English and showed police a fake photo ID. The odor of alcohol was also present. They administered a breath test which registered 0.10.
"This is another tragic example of the extreme dangers associated with drinking and driving," said Hennepin County Attorney James Backstrom. "There is no crime in America that kills or cripples more people than drunk/impaired driving."
Alatorre-Garcia will be turned over to federal immigration authorities upon his release from prison.
48 months isn’t enough.
This guy kills 2 people while drunk and all he gets is 20 months more than Scooter Libby? What am I missing?
This wouldn’t have happened if he had been issued an ID card. /sarc
48 months....the mob should start doing hits for this amount of time....4 years and probably less for good behavior????
the mob could pay illegals a few pesos to kill someone while providing them some cerveza & tequilla!!!!
the legal system like the immigration system...totally sucks and is totally broken!!!
So this illegal kills people and now we’re going to support him for 4 years?
Brit PM vows to deport 4000 prisoners:
We need to do this.
I would suggest supporting him with a rope for 5 minutes.
If I told you, you wouldn't believe me.
Time to file Racketeering, Influencing, and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) lawsuits.
RICO lawyers could turn it around in a few years and MAKE MONEY at the same time. Im surprised they havent done it already.
In the absence of enforcement, we can get the word out in the meantime that there is money to be made in filing RICO lawsuits against employers who hire illegal aliens.
Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, Im going to point out that the victims family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and theyll all simply want to go back home.
