I don’t think we’ve yet begun to realize we are at war.

“non-Muslim students asked to observe Muslim rules in common prayer area”
Frankly, this is not unusual. People everywhere are generally expected to respect basic rules when in someone else’s “house of prayer”.
As for how much they’re accomodating Moslems - that’s another issue. Some of this irritates me. What irritates me most is accomodation for them to pray 5x a day.
But then, now that we’ve kicked out smokers, smokers get breaks all the time during the same work period. :-\

Barry Lynn, of Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, says however that the law is murky on these expressions of faith. And the American Civil Liberties Union says overt religious symbols like crucifixes are not legal, but whether Muslim foot baths and prayer rugs fall into that category is not clear. "That's a difficult one, and it's right on the edge," says Jeremy Gunn, director of the ACLU program on freedom of religion and belief in Washington, D.C.

I was told several years ago that George Mason had not simply set aside prayer areas, but had actually built prayer rooms for the Muslim students. The justification (GMU is a public university) was that anyone could use them, but in reality the only use was for Muslim students.

No, the place where they’re already allowed to pray is - so-to-speak.
That is, I’m taking that it is specifically set aside for this. Unless it’s a common area they’re allowed to take over at certain times. But then, the latter is no different from a church “taking over” a part of a school for their services at certain times - at that time, you should respect their basic rules.

I would think this would be an opportunity for Christian students and their parents to demand the same accomodations that Muslim students are receving. If the school district does not go along-sue it for violation of the equal protection provisions in the Constitution and other bodies of law.
I share everyone’s concern about where this is going but it also gives us a chance to bring back Christian prayer in the schools as well.

Many Blacks belong to the Muslim faith..I would presume the college ranks are teeming with them...Blacks tend to be organized and are part of the poliicals correct mantra chanted by all liberal college administrators...
I’m sure that Middle Eastern people who are in college are considered minorities also,....making them eligible for Government perks
This is all about Political Correctness being enforced by our own government.

Advocates say the accommodations are legal.
Of course they're going to say that; D'OH!
My only question is: does George Mason University receive Federal funds?
Just asking.

If youre not going to assimilate, you have no business being in America. That was 50 years ago. This is the new America we don't do that anymore. We must eradicate all remnants of the old and completely remake it. Most people haven't realized that yet and by the time we do in mass, if we ever do, it will be way too late. Even if we do I unfortunately don't think that Americans have it in them to stand up to it. Hell we can't even define what it is to be an American anymore. It has become a proposition nation that is outlined by vague and little in common ideas. We are merely sharing geography
To: milford421
Christians should get involved and demand prayer rooms all over the country, in every school and office-building in the land.
Then let’s see what the ACLU commies have to say about the whole thing.
