As a Senator, he took marching orders from James Zogby of the pan-Islamist Arab American Institute, opposing profiling of Arabs, the use of secret evidence against Muslims (at the behest of Muslim groups), attempting to repeal the Clinton counterterrorism package, refusing to fund computer tracking of student and other foreign aliens, giving millions in our tax money right to Hezbollah, and putting CAIR on the map on Capitol Hill (taking the group's officials around to meet other Senators and Members of Congress). He took campaign contributions from the relatives of Hezbollah-backed top Lebanese officials after he got the group millions in our tax money.
Spence was one of only two Senators in the entire U.S. Senate who refused to sign a letter calling on President Clinton to condemn Palestinian terrorism and Yasser Arafat. This was at the height of a series of homicide bombings in Israel in 1999 and 2000.
As Energy Secretary, he gave top secret tours of nuclear facilities, as well as detailed information on how we secure them to Muslim nations who are our enemies. And he gave out undue post-9/11 awards to Al-Qaeda money-launderers . . . at the White House. The money launderers were raided by U.S. Customs Service agents.
After he left the Bush cabinet, Spence became a lobbyist for Mid-Eastern Muslim countries that practice the Arab boycott of Israel and don't really like us too much either. He took their money and until the Thompson race, did their bidding...

I doubt Fred would formulate WOT policies based on this guy’s opinions alone. A campaign manager is not the same as a policy adviser. If Abraham can deliver states like Michigan to Fred, then he’s a good choice. Time will tell.
He is not a problem, I would rather he not be part of the campaign (Its odd to me why he was chosen, personal relationship?), but this article is just a hit piece in disguise.
I’m not saying I agree with all of the conclusions in this article, but the facts about not condemning Arafat and his open-borders policies, those are just not good things. And of course people will say he’s just campaign manager and not a policy maker, but I figure it is typically a good idea to pick a campaign manager who agrees with you on big issues like the WOT and immigration.

Obviously, those of us who believe strongly in the need for America to prosecute this war aggressively and effectively would have to wish that Thompson would surround himself with aides who share that passion to win the war decisively.

There are a lot of people using this as a chance to bash the front runner. It would seem that Spencer was hired to manage the campaign, not to decide policy. I also don’t believe this guy is some sort of terrorist. Here is his bio from whitehouse.gove (as I posted on another thread). If you read it, you might see why he was hired to manage this capaign. He has a great resume.

Anyone suggesting that Abraham shouldbe distrustedsimply because of where he was born is just plain wrong.
He should be distrusted for his open border positions.
Then I would urge you to find out more imformation about the Christians in Palestine. For example Arafat married an Eastern Orthodox Christian woman (converted to Islam so she could get her hands on his money.)
In my book that doesn't disqualify Fred Thompson - he's still my guy - but it does offer a legitimate issue to discuss.
I like George Bush's Supreme Court picks... but that didn't mean I didn't howl vociferously when he nominated Harriet Miers who I felt was a very poor choice.
So, we shouldn't be afraid to have these discussions. They are healthy for Fred's campaign to hear from the base -- because it will obviously become clear to us that there's nothing to be concerned about, or else if there is, then our discussions will help to nudge Team Fred to be more acutely aware of bad decisions and rectify them or not repeat them.
I say let's have these discussions - just so long as we're constructive about them.
