Israel's Military Intelligence Wednesday tried to calm jittery citizens with the announcement of its conclusions that Syria has no plans to strike Israel at this time.
The regime in Damascus has its forces alert but in a defensive, rather than offensive, posture, intelligence officers told a ministerial forum during a five-hour meeting in the north of the country.

I certainly hope this is right...there seems to be somethin’ up...maybe it’ll be against the USA...instead of Israel. I would think both would be hit at once...USA and Israel.
In that region of the world, with everything so close together, the differences are minimal. Switching from one to the other is very fast too. So I wouldn't be too assured of that little "factoid", even if it's true.
Gee, that’s reassuring. Hopefully, as all of this love-fest goes on, the Israeli military are still planning for an attack at any moment.
Personally, I think Israel made a mistake by not doing everything it could to destabilize the Syrian regime. The Alawite Shiites are only 10% of the population, and all the Sunni powers in the region would be a lot friendlier to Israel if they managed to bring about majority Sunni rule in Syria.
Which, BTW, would also put the blocks to Hezbollah, and be a serious blow to Iran.
Syria is ruled by just a few individuals, always jockeying for power against each other. A very unstable regime, to rule over so many who hate it.
Guess I’ll be the odd man out and support the Izzies’ statements.
The Syrians aren’t stupid, and it doesn’t make any sense for them to directly attack Israel at this time. They have a sympathetic administration in Israel, woefully outdated offensive weapons, and an enemy in Israel that possesses overwhelming force.
Of course thy’re in a defensive mode. After their buddies in Hezbollah, Hamas and Fatah attack Israel, they will be in position to defend the guerillas’ bases.
in middle east everyone hates everyone
