WASHINGTON, DC, July 20, 2007 In a week in which half of the US Congress continues to believe that a suicidally determined enemy will no longer pose a threat if Congress abandons the Iraqi people and the War on Terror, FReepers and military family members continue to uphold the majority of the American people who support the mission as well as "the troops", who want to stay safe, and who are disgusted with a Congress that, depending which poll you ask, has generated its lowest approval ratings yet as it continues to dither over whether to surrender outright, or surrender the US military through politically-motivated sabotage.

We were honored this week by a visit from Blue Star mother and FReeper armymarinemom. Earlier in the day, she had met President Bush at the White House, with a group of War on Terror veterans and military family members representing a variety of pro-victory organizations. armymarinemom and her husband, armymarinedad, are founders of Military Families Voice of Victory, a non-partisan group, according to its home page, to "support the missions of our loved ones."

Last week, a female reporter came and chatted up several FReepers. This week she was back again, trailing a photographer; but this week she went down to the Code Pinkos and was greeted effusively by DC CodePink underbanana, Allison Yorra. As we have learned, the DC Chapter can have forty FReepers, six or eight huge banners, dozens of signs, hundreds of flags, and (I'm not making this up) twin children doing a dance routine for the troops, but reporters will attach themselves like Velcro to the seven pathetic anti-war protestors with crayon-scribbled "bring them home" signs.

We were visited by Evan and Sheree from Alexandria. Evan is studying criminal justice and photography at a Pittsburgh university; he is doing a free speech project. They had learned that anti-war protesters were "vigiling" at Walter Reed through Protest.net, a site that rounds up Hate-America activism around the nation, sorted by region. Surprised and apparently pleased to see our FReep, Sheree said, "This one is a lot more fun than the one down the street!"

The Honor Roll of attendees at tonight's rally included FReepers ArmyMarineMom, BufordP, Cindy-True-Supporter, Doctor Raoul, Fraxinus, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Kristinn, PrezUSA222, R.T. Delta, Sensei Ern, tgslTakoma, Tom the Redhunter, Trooprally [Mr & Mrs], VAflagwaver, VictoryNY and myself, Albion Wilde. Lurkers included Bill from MD, Evan & Sheree and several troops from Walter Reed who stopped by.

Great job Albion!
Always good reading the thread to find out what else is going on with the other corners.
[Mr] T
Great work, people. Love seeing newbies stopping by. Hopefully Evan will put out something with a positive spin.
you know what I think? Well, I’m gonna tell ya anyway.
I think DC Chapter, and/or parents of the wounded, should contact the reporter who did the story on “how back the WR conditions are for our wounded.” Or, someone who really has sympathy for our military. Ask them to interview the wounded and their family about how they feel having those pinkos hanging outside their windows while they are trying to recoup. Hopefully, this would generate as much sympathy as the “how back the WR conditions are for our wounded” report did, which might go a long way in losing sympathy the pinkos.
That’s my 2 cents and I’m sticking to it. LOL
Bump
You can say that again. Thanks for your post, Dolly!
Sure is a long way from the "other" Washington! We won't give up hope you never know what might bring you this way...
Thank you for your kind thoughts!
Terrific report, Albion!
Hey Doc, are you losing weight, or working out?

Thanks for the ping, report and pics. You guys are the real deal, working week in and week out. God bless all of you.
WE ARE FREE REPUBLIC AND WE LOVE OUR DC CHAPTER - DEAL WITH IT! LOL!!!!
Unfortunately, those articles were politically-motivated "hit pieces" to embarrass the Bush administration and make the soldiers seem disloyal and/or victims. The elite press corps is more interested in scandal and pleasing one another by vying for Pulitzers than in presenting what reasonable people would consider the "truth."
Finding anyone sympathetic to the military among the DC press corps... well, we've been out here for two and a half years and reporters have come from as far away as Japan, but no matter how many of us are here, we are ignored by the mainstream media. Only blogs and patriotic newsgroups keep our story out there.
One conservative online news source did a story in 2005 expressing disgust that the anti-war protesters were at WR. It was picked up by Limbaugh, Hannity and others in August, 2005. Later that year, there was one article in the Washington Post, but the Post's story made moral equivalence between our group and the protesters, who were defaming the wounded (pressure from Sean Hannity and from us has since made them change their signs to phony "we support the troops" sentiments).
During the uproar this past winter over conditions at WR, we once saw a CBS cameraman carefully angling to shoot the Walter Reed signpost in such a way that our entire FReep, MOABs, signs, flags, people and banners, one of which was attached directly to the side of the WR signpost, were not visible. A group of soldiers held a press conference to refute the bad publicity, but not a word made it into the newspapers.
That's your DC press corps for you.
It’s always a pleasure and honor to freep with the DC Chapter. You guys ROCK!

I am so grateful to all of you for what you do to support our troops.
Believe me, I believe you.
I’ve lived long enough to notice those things.
But, one can hope.
No, YOU ROCK, armymarinemom, and so do all your grown kids in the service of our country! Thank you so much for all that you do for the troops, as well as for the many ways that you support the DC Chapter!
Yes, the hippie generation is going to start retiring and dying out. Maybe some of the next journalists in line will get tired of hating America.
Wonderful photos.
My daughter is out to D.C. - she is doing her “nursing preceptor” training for Army ROTC Nursing training for 4 weeks. I told her to look for 2 groups - 1 filled straggly people who look like they took too many tokes, and displaying hate-filled signs, while the other group would have patriotic signs. Told her to go up and say hi to the patriotic group and give them Freeper greetings from the left-coast Washington.
(Are you guys out just on Fridays?? And what time frame?)
Thanks for supporting the troops.
Mike
Not as long as we have communist and their sympathizers living in this country.
Hey all! I doubt I will be there tonight. If I am it will be near 8:30, 9:00.
looking forward to seeing you at GOE2!!!! (i predict this next one will be BIGGER & BETTER than GOE1.)

Thank you for this post. God bless each and every one of you who stands up for our troops, their families and our country!! I only wish I could join you on Friday evenings.
I LOVE the pic of Dingy Harry, TRAITOR. IMHO, he is truly a nasty, small minded man. Perhaps the Dims who imply the war on terror doesn’t really exist and ‘talking’ to our enemies would help, should invite Al-Quaeda to live at their homes for a while. Not sure, though, if their wives would enjoy wearing burkas....
Thanks, again, to all of you for all you do in support of our troops and our country.

[Mrs] Trooprally is the bomb with a camera, as are several of our other excellent DC Chapter photographers.

Outstanding! You must be very proud. There are some other ROTC young people who come out, and two Army nurse veterans who are always here. By all means, we would love to have her come by and stand with us.
(Are you guys out just on Fridays?? And what time frame?)
Yes, the Walter Reed FReep is held every Friday. We set up starting around 6:30, and we are all ready to roll from 7:00 pm until the troop bus returns around 9:30. By all means FReepmail one of us when she decides to visit so we can advise her about safe transportation.
Thanks for supporting the troops.
It is our privilege. You would think, after 2 - 1/2 years, that it would get old, but it never does, because of the troops. We love seeing them and having them come out to talk with us. I've been a volunteer for many decades; but it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done.
Come if you can, and be safe on the road, Sensei Ern!
