Edwards: "They want to shut me up"
The Politico ^ | July 27, 2007 | Ben Smith

Posted on 07/27/2007 1:30:20 PM PDT by RatsDawg

MyDD flags an intense minute and a half from John Edwards in Creston, Iowa, yesterday in which he heatedly tells an audience that the attention to trivia (I assume the reference here is to his haircuts) is "not an accident" and that "they want to shut me up" to silence his message about ending the war and universalizing health care.

He warns, in the video segment posted by his campaign, that if we don't beat back these unnamed oligarchs, "They're going to control the media. They're going to control what's being said."

He doesn't go into detail about who "they" are, other than a reference to people who make $100 million a year, and compares them to the (actual well-funded, conservative operation) that put the Swift Boat ads on air. He also doesn't explain exactly how this corporate-media collaboration works, but his audience seems to be rapt.

Here's from his remarks:

This stuff's not an accident. Nobody in this room should think this is an accident. You know, I'm out there speaking up for universal healthcare, ending this war in Iraq, speaking up for the poor. They want to shut me up. That's what this is about. "Let's distract from people who don't have health care coverage. Let's distract from people who can't feed their children.... Let's talk about this litlte silly frivolous nothing stuff so that America won't pay attention."

They will never silence me. Never. If we don't stand up to these people, if we don't fight em, if we don't beat them, they're going to continue to control this country. Thye're going to control the media. They're going to control what's being said. They do not want to hear us talking about health care for everybody.

Yep.

When the facade crumbles, a leftist is all about emotionalism. Edwards has just embraced his pure, emotional, leftist self, without pretense of reason.

“They” forced him to have hideously expensive hair cuts and refer to the War on Terror as a bumper sticker? “They” must be very powerful, indeed. But I agree with “they” that he should shut up.

ROFLMAO!! Good heavens NO, Breck Girl!!! We want you to keep spewing your drivel until enough Americans get wise to the fact that you and your fellow 'RATS represent the snivelling wanker side of American life that needs to be repudiated, not embraced. Keep babbling, Silky Pony, we need you out there to remind people of what the Demagogues really are.

I bet Edwards is like Sampson. If we could just figure out a way to shave his luxurious locks off his super power to create incessant jibber jabber would cease . Then he'd go mad and use his super strength to rip styling salon chairs from the floors and have an evenly matched fight with Ann Coulter without having to have his wittle wifey go head-to-head with Coulter for him.

RUSH: How about Elizabeth Edwards? Have you heard about this? Elizabeth Edwards says she's not going to buy tangerines anymore. She said that it's too big a carbon footprint. There aren't any tangerines in North Carolina where she lives, and so if she buys tangerines, her carbon footprint is going up because they have to be shipped in using fossil fuels to get them to the market in North Carolina. Mrs. Edwards said, "'We've been moving back to "buy local,"' Mrs. Edwards said, outlining a trade policy that 'acknowledges the carbon footprint' of transporting fruit. 'I live in North Carolina. I'll probably never eat a tangerine again,' she said, speaking of a time when the fruit is reaches the price that it 'needs' to be. Edwards had talked about 'sacrifice,' at the meeting, but Elizabeth's suggestion illustrated just how difficult it is to sell the specifics of sacrifice. Asked about her comment immediately after the event, John Edwards avoided the question twice, then said he isn't sure. 'Would I add to the price of food?' he asked. 'I'd have to think about that.'" Who's running for office here? Which one of these two is running for office? So she's now says we're not going to buy tangerines.

Folks, does this mean she's not going to drink orange juice anymore? I don't think there are oranges in North Carolina, are there? What if her children want orange juice? What the hell else is she not going to eat or buy because it doesn't grow locally? (interruption) Exactly right. Excellent point, Mr. Snerdley! Where is the toilet paper plant in North Carolina? Is there one? We don't know here at the EIB Network, but that is an interesting question.

Projection again... The left never ceases in their efforts to “shut up” the opposition, but I digress.

The left says Bush is engineering terrorism as a bogyman, but Edwards cites an unnamed group of millionaires trying to “silence” him. Interesting... projection in action again.

Also, ONLY $100 Million??? That is just sooo below Edward’s wealth that we have to laugh. Maybe Edwards should put his wallet where his communism is and give ALL of his fortune away to the “poor” and live on $30k a year. He will not and it is one more example of the “power and money for me but none for thee” garbage spewed by the left.

Power and wealth are all the leftist elites seek. Cheap slogans for the "sheep" are all they give.

I think its a cancer donation thingy, that was started by his buddy Lance Armstrong. The yellow bands were popular back in ‘04. The different colored ones are other organizations that wanted to capitalize off the popularity of the Armstrong Cancer bands.

And will anyone remind him that he REFUSED to go on the Fox News presidential debate to present his ideas about health care and the other issues?

Particularly endearing to wear for a politician since Armstrong left his wife, who stuck with him through cancer, for Cheryl Crow, who subsequently left Armstrong (probably because he continued to insist on using more than one square of toilet paper).
