It was not this way in the 1980’s. I was on a Saudi Airlines flight from Dammam, SA to Rome. All the arabs, male and female, boarded in their traditional garb. Twenty to thirty minutes into the flight the Captain announced “We have now cleared Saudi air space.” Almost immediately, the aisle ways were crowded with arabs. When they emerged from the restrooms, ALL were in western clothes,expensive western clothes. And the alcohol was being ordered. BTW some of the arab women were beautiful. On the return trip, the reverse happened, and all the western clothes were covered with their traditional garb for returning home. I have never forgotten this hypocritical behavior.
