I’m not really trying argue this too much but it is an interesting amendment. If Congress’s next session wanted to re institute funding and lock these guys back up should they be able to? Just a thought.

The President never got line item veto back.

Hopefully, he will veto the bill and then commune the sentence.

3093 is the parent bill that was passed. Pork barrel to the max.

That explains to me why Jane Harman voted in favor of it.

GREAT NEWS!!!! Duncan Hunter was talking about this when he was at the Freedom Concert.

From the OP: ‘“I hope the Senate will follow the House’s lead by coordinating a similar effort or accepting the House passed amendment. This miscarriage of justice must be corrected.”’

Let’s call our senators, and tell them even many murderers haven’t received this kind of harsh sentence, and Ramos and Compean have already spent six months in prison, and Ramos was beaten up so badly, he could have been killed!

Hopefully, by that time, their appeals would have been decided favorably, and it would be a moot issue.

Largely symbolic effort, not to mention Unconstitutional.

Something like that pesky separation of powers thing?

I also don't think giving Congress complete control over the other two branches is the answer.

I think that horse has already run out of the barn, the Congress HAS complete control via control of funding.

Thank you to Congressman Duncan Hunter and Congressman Tom Tancredo!<<<

I second the motion.

Could they be a team for the White House?

I hear both of them on radio programs and like the way they talk.

The day these men are released from prison, will be a day to rejoice, for them and for us.

I don’t know if you can get Mike Gallagher on your radio?

He has raised money for their families and pushed hard to get them free.

I wouldn’t be surprised if those two work together in some capacity in the White House.

But, be prepared. Look through this thread for the posts from Dead Corpse. It seems there were a number of items slipped in that shouldn’t have been there. So the President may have to veto this bill.

Then, the propaganda will be that President Bush vetoed the release of the Border Agents.

Hopefully he will commune them.

And don’t forget the executive branch doesn’t have to enforce any laws or judicial decisions. Check, balance.

There's nothing unconstitutional about the Congress specifying what money can be drawn from the treasury to support.

In fact, that's one of Congress' major jobs.

Turns out the Constitution gives the Congress total control over the other two branches.

They aren't, as it were, all that "co-equal".

The people have total control over the Congress-critters.

Thomas Jefferson realized that the Constitution says you can't cut a judge's pay, but it also doesn't require Congress to fund the judge's office.

So he fired HUNDREDS OF FEDERAL JUDGES.

There's a lot of other politics surrounding that action, but cooler heads have examined the situation many times in later years and decided Jefferson was an OK guy and probably understood this process better than most.

So, yes, the judge's jurisdiction could be restricted to his front porch ~ or nothing at all.

Congress can remove the office holders in the other two branches. They cannot remove the branches themselves. That would be done in a Constitutional Convention.
