Embattled NFL quarterback Michael Vick made an appearance today on the Atlanta-based Porshe Foxx radio program. Calling into the program, Vick gave his first interview since charges were filed against him July 17.

During the brief spot Vick thanked his fans and all those who continue to support him, and expressed regret over the negative impact the dogfighting scandal is having on the Atlanta Falcons franchise.

"R.L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, urged the public today to restrain itself from prematurely passing judgment on Vick. "If Mr. Vick is guilty, he should pay for his crime, but to treat him as he is being treated now is also a crime," White said at a news conference. "Be restrained in your premature judgment until the legal process is completed."

When will the MSM throw these words back in his face in light of how the INNOCENT Duke players were treated?

So even now the NAACP continues to flog Duke lax on its website?!?!

There is a special place in hell for people (for lack of a better term) like Vick.

Notice not one word about the dogs who were proven to have been killed?

He is worried about his own sorry carcass.....nothing else.

Scum.

I may never watch another NFL game because of this....not that I watched many before.

Dan Daily of The Washington Times listed three things Vick's lawyers should avoid saying at all costs:
*"My client has been hounded by these accusations."
*"The prosecution is barking up the wrong tree."
*"The DA threw the witness a bone by letting him plea to a lesser charge."

BTW, there were rumors already a while back regarding Vick and dog fighting. Now they have even his buddy implicate him.

While discussing this story the other night, Michelle Malkin was putting forth her opinion, and started by saying “I don’t have a dog in this fight, but.....”. I can tell the way she was speaking that she did not realize what she had said.

I agree 100% but it isn’t just pro sports it is college too. Vicks brother made the headlines more then once for his thuggish behavior. Money drives the train and as long we continue to patronize it and hero worship it will not improve or change.

"his issues,"

other than looking like a thug and IMO only being only a fair qb inspite of the MSM love affair with him, what are his "other" issues?

I believe that sports should be drastically curtailed at our colleges and Universities.....

They’ve become expensive “Spring Training Camps” for the Pros — and a distraction from the educational agenda.
It has also resulted in unqualified “jocks” gaining admittance while denying others who wished to get an EDUCATION.

They should be places of LEARNING not highly produced and commercialized sports camps..

All College/University sports should be reduced to the level of “diversion” or exercise” not grand productions in the manner of the Roman Coliseum.

If professional sports are to be - they should secure their “talent” from PRIVATE Sports Clubs that are separate, distinct and unrelated to places of LEARNING..

It would have been nice to retain the model of Sports and Education as first conceived by the Greeks — but as with all good ideas, they get screwed up when folks with small minds driven by greed are in a position to make decisions...

Through lack of STANDARDS and PROPORTION — the Colleges and Universities pursued “building winning teams” instead of “building winning characters”... THAT is where they veered from the Greek example.

Imagine — we have elevated to rich Heroes — Thugs who for the most part are semi-literate, incapable of self control in society, few who have contributed to society, many with criminal records and who achieve much of their athletic ability from the illegal use of drugs...

These are “role models or representative students” the Universities are proud to support?

What a mess...its a cancer eating at the fabric of society.
It has metastasized to the point where only extensive invasive surgery will help...

He allegedly suffers from incurable herpes. That must not be fun. He was sued by a woman for giving him herpes and settled out of court. I vaguely recall some issues while he was at VT but no longer remember what. Then he has been involved with scraps with his little brother and thirteen year old girls, etc.

The female interviewer was totally star-struck. "Michael, alot of your fans want to know when they'll get to see you again on the field." etc., etc. "Oh, Michael .. ... we miss you so much!"

I'm going to go ahead and say that is typical for a woman who wants to cover sports (like that Simmers gal who cohosts with Fred Rogan wanting to talk about Whoopi Gldberg-- and otherwise ruins the program. They are HORRIBLE!!!! rather Listen to them using the sports jargon on ESPN.

Terrible interviewer! Simply terrible. I kept waiting for her to ask him out.

I’d like to see the word Vick pass into the lexicon as flip-flopping finger-flipping dog-ripping over-hyped affirmative-action wannabe has-been denial is a river in Egypt not welcome here anymore waste of human skin, but S.I. probably isn’t interested in that yet.

So which NFL stadium will be the first to play “Who Let the Dogs Out?” when the Falcons come to town?
