Yeah, last Sunday was pert boring from the announcer’s booth.

I liked TNT’s opening show with their split screen approach.

It's only Monday (not complaining!).

This will be the first Pocono race I watch from home in a couple years. After June's race was such a disaster because of jerks and bad weather (even though all the preceding week weather guys were saying only a 5-10% chance of rain) we're taking a break from Pocono. It just seems like a lot of real scumbags were at the 500 in June and we couldn't really enjoy it.

Maybe next year. Or not. I'm thinking of going to Dover instead. Somebody at the Pocono 500 said there isn't a bad seat in the place. Pocono Raceway has lots of bad seats.

Most likely on Sunday I'll BBQ with some family and friends and run the cable out to the deck and watch the race.

Arrest Made In Attack On NASCAR Driver

An Indianapolis man has been arrested on suspicion of beating and kicking a NASCAR Busch Series driver in the city’s Broad Ripple area, police said.

Police said they believe Mark Tharpe, 25, attacked Steve Wallace, 19, on a street in Broad Ripple late Sunday or early Monday, beating him and kicking him in the face.

Wallace, the son of NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace, finished 17th in the Kroger 200 Busch Series race at Indianapolis’ O’Reilly Raceway Park on Saturday.

Police didn’t comment on a motive for the attack on Steve Wallace, whose father was part of ESPN’s broadcasting crew for Sunday afternoon’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Steve Wallace declined treatment for his injuries.

Tharpe was being held in jail Monday afternoon with bond set at $15,000, 6News’ Jack Rinehart reported.

Thanks WCG!

That brute should be happy he’s not in jail down south! Gotta wonder what motivates that kind of trash.

From what I understand from a local Indy person, that part of town used to be a good hangout for music etc. but is pretty bad/seedy these days. One wonders what he was doing down there?

I didn’t see yesterday’s race. I was my home Champ Car track in Downtown San Jose. The crowds were like last year (not very much— maybe 80,000 total for three days). There were hardly any vendors and fewer places to buy food. They didn’t announce an attendance figure, so it has to be pretty bad. I know NASCAR has more people on race day than Champ Car all weekend long.

One interesting thing is that people didn’t show up until about an hour or two before the race. A bunch left halfway throughout the race.

I don’t really care for timed events and perfer the distance race (lap count) mroe.
